Series/Book Cleanup

For any librarians who want to help out with some messy books, the following books in the series need major clean up to help support combining.

Many of these books need title fixes, author fixes, etc.

Think that these should NOT be series.

From the Librarian manual:
Imprints are not series
Imprints and other unrelated collections of works (usually by multiple authors) are not series. They can be grouped with a Listopia list, or the collection/imprint information can be listed in the edition field, but they should not be grouped into a series.

As a general rule, a book is only part of a series if that designation would apply to all editions of a work. In the case of imprints and other non-series collections, it is common for some of these books to be published under numerous other imprints as well.

For example, SF Masterworks would not be a series, and neither would Harlequin Blaze.

Agreed. An example of Lonely Planet books that would constitute a series: All the Paris guides, despite having different editors/authors.

They were already a series when I found them so I didn't touch them, only tried to make changes.

The books by Lonely Planet still need clean up for combining purposes.

So, if remember correctly (seems that there was a discussion about Fodor's at some point), we are going to put a real author as the first author and keep Lonely Planet as somewhere near the end of the authors list. This makes it both easy to find the book by the real author (who you might or might not know) and the Company (who you likely are to search by). Also makes it possible to combine appropriately.

Actually, we don't usually add a company as an author unless there is no actual author known.

I read the first couple and they were referred to as "Merry Gentry" as far as I was aware. If Laurell K Hamilton's site says Merry, it seems to me that Merry should be the proper name. Anyone higher up care to weigh in?

I believe her question is that the series is named "Meredith Gentry," but "Merry Gentry" in the title of the others. The author refers to it as the "Merry Gentry" series, on her website, here: http://www.laurellkhamilton.org/works/

I've changed the series to "Merry Gentry," to agree with the author's website.

Thank you for the help, the second was a search result though it appeared to be a different series listing to the one I found initially.... I think I'll leave it to more experienced librarians :)
