She finally did it, she couldn’t believe it, but she did, finally she was rid of those accursed shoes, those shoes that bound her to the story.
Hail and well thee met!
Here is the first line from my Indie book, The Dreamweaver's Journey
The golden rays of the sun were just beginning to dip below the horizon when the Storyteller arrived in the garden behind the Palace of Ages, her blue and silver skirts swaying as she walked.

This is one of my favorite lines in my book TornRibbons.
He grabbed her hand. “I promise to protect you and your family. Till the day I leave this earth,” he said.

The night began with red and blue lights flashing through Carla’s bedroom window; waking her up a little after three am.

The entire McGee was nuts, as it turns out.

"I think it's best if I start by telling you about the day I met the Devil outside a saloon in Nebraska."

"The door hissed, a whisper that shimmered down the short corridor, and clicked shut with a sharp sound that was just on the edge of hearing."

First line from Into the Vast:
"Oblivious to the pervasive chill of the alloyed room, three scientists advanced towards the body propped up against the far wall."

'The underground is as crowded as I had known it would be at this end of the day; it had been even worse this morning.'

"You're a goddamn fool if you expect anything new here."

"They say the day Goodie Lowrey's husband died thousands of crows converged on Jacob's Creek, blackening the noonday sky and drowning out her screams in a tumult of wings and incessant chatter."

"The stupide tourists having a picnic in the cemetery rouse me from my solitude, from my daydreams and memories."
(btw, that's stupid the way the CajunFrench spell it.

Oh wait, I don't think I wrote that..."
But, Anonymous, you did write quite a few steamy erotica novels.

(It needs to be put in its context)

From my second novel, Exit Strategy: Plausible deniability.

"The morning that the first body was found was one I will never forget to this day."

'David Taylor, of Taylor and Sons, Charleston, New Orleans, & Havana, enjoyed the Common Room above his Company’s Glasgow headquarters.'

As a sometimes English teacher, it pleases me to see so many writers writing in the active voice. As a consummate paper grader I grow to hate the passive voice.
Give yourselves warm fuzzies!

Agreed.

Exploration of the hidden side of life began in 1980 when I realised that the physical world was not all that it seemed.

That's the start of my debut novel, Saving Saffron Sweeting.

The first line from my book of poetry: "Godly Inspiration for the Troubled Soul"

The first line from my book, The Honey Witch.

Donovan: "What is the matter, Alexiss? Did you lose your keys again?"
Sebastian: "Daddy," I whisper as my tears fell, "please don't leave me."

In the pitch of the dark, the boy and I are cowering beneath the wagon and a caterwaul rises to the moon.

From "The Hug House"
"If Journey Goodlander expected anything from her day off work at Chunky Chicken, it was boredom with a side of loneliness rather than the opportunity of a lifetime."
From soon to be released "Gabriel" (a suspense novel about a kidnapped boy with a drug-addicted mother who blocks the investigation):
"Celine’s need for nicotine trumps everything."
