Virtual Reality

I really enjoyed that the virtual reality world was not innately evil. It was at times misused and caused problems but it never became sentient and had some actual positives. It was created by a lonely man to connect in a way he couldn't in real life but became kind of a band aid for the world. Instead of fixing the problems in the real world he created this fantasy and the population followed. It seems like all the funding goes towards improving OASIS instead of dealing with all the horrible stuff happening in the world. I like how we find out how shitty the real world is in small doses. The characters are so separated from reality that it seems appropriate that we only get glimpses into the damage the world has undergone.
