Delirium
question
Quick Question to someone who already finished Delirium. Can it stand alone or leave you at a cliffhanger?

I'm getting sick of wasting my money on sequels. Could anyone tell me if it has a real ending or if you need to buy Pandemonium too? Thanks!! :)
Okay, here's the deal. I finished Delirium and was like OMG GOTTA KNOW THE REST OF THIS ASAP. So I went to the library and nabbed Pandemonium, which honestly ended with the most ridiculous cliffhanger of all freaking time that it literally left me nauseous for a little while. I WOULD SUGGEST that if its possible you will acquire said nausea and anxiety over a cliffhanger such as the one at the end of Pandemonium, to wait until shortly before the release of Requiem, this coming March, to read Pandemonium so you can go straight into reading Requiem without having panic attacks everywhere.
It would work as a standalone, but it's a trilogy. I actually liked it the way it was. Some endings are better off "unfinished" for the reader's imagination.
If you hated Delirium for its cliffhanger ending, then I'm sure you'll hate the heck out of Pandemonium's ending haha :))
Sadly, the trend these days is the "trilogy/duology/series" packaging... more profit.

yea i originally thought it was a single novel... i couldn't bear to read the second one... i felt like it would mess up the tragic ending to the first one....

I didnt like delirium too much.... but i cant stand not finishing a series unless i absolutely hate it
It can stand alone and leave you with a killer ending. Or it could be part of a series which happens to be pretty good.

Its a HUGE cliffhanger!I literally suffered a tiny bit because I had to wait for the second one, and then that one ended with an even bigger cliffhanger. Seriously, they were big enough to make me angry and having to wait. If your looking for standalone all of Kristen Cashores are great, they are good standalones with companion novels, but they don't need each other either. Also The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater is an amazing standalone, it is my favorite book, and is beautifully written.
I have read Delirium, and although I'm curious as to find out what happens to Lena, I'm not in any rush to read it. Like yourself, I always buy a book only for it to become part of a series later on, so I constantly waste money that I could have spent on another solitary book. However, in this case, it is not a necessity to read Pandemonium, unless when you finish it, you are desperate to find out what happens next.
There is a bit of a cliffhanger, but it is not as massive as say, the ending of Harry Potter and the Half-Bloody Prince.
So, I would say, save your money and get it from the library, unless you are really really desperate to read on.

Is Hana any good? I finished Delirium a little while ago and thought that it was really good but only found out later that there was more. I'm fine with just reading Delirium but if the others are good then there's NO doubt that I have to read them.
I found it to be a HUGE cliffhanger, and I was dying of having to wait for Pandemonium!! *Same thing goes for Pandemonium, I was crying my eyes out b/c we have to wait until next years:(*
When I read Delirium I thought it was a stand alone book and I was very satisfied with the ending. To me, it was not even close to a cliffhanger. To me, a cliffhanger leaves you not knowing what is going to happen next, but I felt like the ending of Delirium was pretty clear. There was definitely a shock at the end, but it was revealed right then, and you weren't left hanging for answers. I was surprised to find out it would be a trilogy. I really loved Pandemonium, it builds upon where Lena ended up at the end of the first book. I think if you like the story of Delirium, you will want to read Pandemonium too, but honestly if I hadn't know there was a sequel I think Delirium could stand on it's own.
PS- Pandemonium definitely DOES have a cliffhanger, a pretty huge one. It felt like it ended right in the middle of a sentence with absolutely no idea of what the future holds.

CLIFFHANGER! i just finished like 10 minutes ago, and i need the second book! btw: has anyone heard about Delirium 1.5? It;s called Hana! I WANT TO READ ITT!!
I didn't feel Delirium left you with a big..."oh my goodness! What's going to happen next!" It was fine as a stand alone and unless you fall madly in love with the characters I don't see any need to read the second. I do have it on my to read list but it'll be awhile before I get around to it.
Delirium leads off with a major cliffhanger. I recently bought Pandemonium (2nd book in the series) because Delirium just had me with that cliffhanger.
It does end in a cliffhanger, but I found the book felt so contrived that I just didn't care enough to go on with any of the other books. The author's idea was interesting, but it seems to me that she's got enough of a hook for a single book and has decided to draw it out excruciatingly slowly so she can milk it into a trilogy. I found the book painful and was very happy when it was over. I'm just not interested in reading any further.
I didn't enjoy the second book, I wish I didn't read it but it's a big cliff hanger so you want to know what happens next.
I think it's a pretty big cliff-hanger. If you like the characters, at least.
I mean, it won't be answered in the first sentence of the next book, or even maybe in the first several chapters. But you're definitely left, at the end, going 'what happens next?!'

Delirium ends (kind of) on a cliff-hanger, but it is quite major.
I thought it was a single book, until I looked around and found out that it was part of a trilogy/series. I guess you could leave it by itself, cause it's clear who's alive and well, and who's not;) I haven't got Pandemonium yet, though I've read sample chapters online. I can tell you that the plot hasn't got too much carrying on from Delirium, so if you really don't want to, it's okay to not get Pandemonium. Unless you really, really want to find out all about Lena's future. (Like me).
