the film is not really like the book, id say its more the vampire lestat book than queen of the damned book

Pletcha Webb The QOTD movie was horrible, but I also thought that even though the Interview with the Vampire movie was wonderful, Lestate's true nature was lost. I always thought him more a rascal than the tongue in cheek charector portrayed by Tom Cruise.

V. Pain The book and movie had build-up, but what the movie lead to did not satisfy or amaze, that is what you all really mean by 'good and bad'. It was the same story, yet the movie deviated in a way that deflated our expectations. It's been a long time but I knew I didn't want to see the movie when it came out. Books don't need explanations and supplements, they need sequels! Movies fall short-they are limited!

Kayci Morgan I was so mad. As beautiful a job they did with Interview with the Vampire, for my favorite book in the series we get THIS CRAP! Even years later I still get mad when I think about that movie. I raged like a psycho when I saw it.

Rico Lamoureux The book was great, while the film was a perfect example of how Hollywood can screw things up. Anne Rice said she actually begged to write the script for it(she wrote the script for Interview With The Vampire, which is why it was so good) but they wouldn't allow her to. Would have been nice if she would have had the foresight to have a clause in the first contract stating that any future chronicle adaptations would have to be by her. A big thing to ask, but we would later see unprecedented agreements with the Harry Potter series/J.K. Rowling.

Paganalexandria The only thing I liked about the movie was how cool Aliyah looked as Akasha. Everything else was a clusterf***.

Jane Night Queen of the Damned was my favorite book of the Lestat/Louis books.
The movie was not nearly as good as the movie version of Interview. I was disappointed.
I think there was so much information in the book and it really got lost or discarded in the movie. I also didn't like many of the actors. Lestat was pretty good but I didn't like most everyone else.

Stephanie Yes you are right the movie was a huge let down. Even Anne was disappointed. I think the biggest difference was that she didn't write the screenplay herself like she did for Interview. I really think that would have made a big difference in how it turned out.

Especially the end where they included the sisters cannibalism without any exposition for those who have not read the book. It just came out of nowhere and had no context.

Neil Jordan was the director of Interview, who is a brilliant director and an excellent writer, who undoubtely has left his mark on the script and the polishing.

I couldn't agree more!

Yes, Neil Jordan is great too. If only they would have been reunited for Queen:)

"Vampire Heart" is one of my favorite songs. Was it written explicidly for the movie? I didn't know that.

Yes there is good music on the film but not this song. It didn't even come out until after the movie.

Stephanie deleted user wrote: "Agreed. The movie was one long KORN video with dialogue and plot. But the music was good, indeed. The book is excellent, of course. Still, the film is good eye-candy... That's something."

I find this comparison funny. I mean since there isn't one single KORN song in the whole movie...lol
