What is flirting? Is it ok? What do the scriptures say about it? What do the Prophets say? What's your opinion?

Stacey O'driscoll Flirting's fun, especially when you're 19 and just having a laugh. Harmless if you aren't taking it to seriously. I'm quite a flirty person but I don't let things happen, I just have fun, a joe or whatever, but i'm in a relationship now so no more flirting for me I guess :D

Ok so I always have to look up what a word means. So flirtation- 1) playful romantic involvement: a short playful interaction based on lighthearted feeling, especially one that suggests sexual interest 2) period of casual interest in something: a period of considering or participating in something in a superficial way

Synonyms- romance, fling, love affair, entanglement, trifle, seduce, lead on

Many people who flirt are considered womanizers, wanton, lustful, or promiscuous.

Flirting can be seen as 'not that serious', 'playful', or 'simple fun', but as Christians we need to look at intent. Flirting is used to get attention (most times sexual attention) or to take your mind off of something or to entertain yourself at someone's expense. The main thing about flirting is that it causes the mind to sin and that everything we do should be for the glory of God and it should be done with purpose. We should seek out God attention not the attention of the opposite sex. It goes against the concept of purity and modesty. You have/cause impure thoughts in yourself and that person and you present yourself in a way that draws the attention and sin of that person. Last thing. I got this off of a website: 'The Bible tells us that we are to be a good example, showing others the love of Christ through our behavior (Ephesians 5:1-2). It is possible that a man or woman who is being flirted with has been struggling with lustful thoughts themselves. When a person of the opposite sex is hanging on them, winking at them, touching them, or showing off their body to them, it will make the person's struggle all the more difficult. The Bible strongly warns us against tempting others to sin (Matthew 18:7). We should do all we can to bring others into God's Kingdom and never do anything that would cause a person to stumble in his Christian walk (Romans 14:21). First Corinthians 10:31 reminds us, “Whatever you eat or drink or whatever you do, you must do all for the glory of God.”'

Stacey O'driscoll its not neccisarily attention seeking. I used to flirt with my best friends and stuff, we were just messing, no intent what so ever lol, it would be wierd. I get what you're saying about tempting others and stuff but the 'others' shouldn't let themselves be tempted. it's ike people who cheat blame the other person for tempting or whatever... Or you could just have morals and not cheat, it's not difficult to be faithful

Thats a OFFICIAL deffinition of the word. Not mine. And thays the arguement a friend used to sway me. Besides. No one has to excwpt the temptation but saying its not your fault when they are is like being the mastermind of a murder and saying only the assasins are guilty!
