The words in a book paint pictures in my mind and as an artist I sometimes transfer those images to my artworks. I normally read a book two or three times in order to grasp why the author used a certain descriptive word. What about you?

I myself enjoy and appreciate varied writing techniques. My favorite is personification. I love it when an author can do more than just tell you what's there, but can also make it come to life.
I agree with Faize, it is absolutely a talent, when an author can transmit more than just words, but also feelings, images and bring you into their world. I am also of the concept that the art of the book "changes" according to the importance and meaning we give to reading. I think the art of a book is to be able to bring me into another world, make me concentrate and learn something. But that is what I look for in a book. Nevertheless the ability of transmitting emotions is basic, probably, but in details the art of the book, I think can be personal as well.
