Here are some tips for using groups on common social media (Linked In, Facebook, Twitter), search sites (Google and Yahoo!) and book sites.

Justin (justinbienvenue) | 2274 comments This is very true. It's good to do a good share of promoting and sometimes it will pay off and other times it wont. I myself have at times promoted in as many circuits as I can and felt I haven't gotten the publicity I've wanted to I get usually one person who adds my FB Fan page a week and 7-10 people on my website. This is without promoting daily but having enough stuff promoted to the point where it's out there for people to see and if they come across it then all the better.
Facebook is good to a certain point as there's only so much you can do. Search Sites are good because people just type your name in and find your sites and stuff and It fairs pretty well actually I see it as the underrated of all promoting tools. It's good to promote a little here and there and just watch what happens, if it works great, if it doesn't dont be discouraged it may just take time. Just make sure to invest in correct promoting tools otherwise its true it wont do good and will be a waste of time

Thanks for the link, Randy. Been doing some of this and find myself curious as to why some of these avenues produce a flurry of activity one day, and bring the song of crickets chirping the next. I do agree that best efforts made and response received when targeted to a specific audience and interest - wouldn't want to get all dressed up just to be the only one who shows up at the party!

Randy Ross (rsquared) | 82 comments Hi Jaye,
Re: flurry one day, crickets the next

My experience is similar -- I post a link to something I've written, people see it the day I post or a day after and then that's it. (The people who are interested will read it and move on. The others won't bother.) Post more stuff, you'll get more clicks -- within reason. (if you post a lot of crap, won't do you much good, though having a lot of links back to your site is supposed to increase your visibility on Google.)
