I spent a lot of hours the past few days outlining. More than once I've discovered something about the bigfeet and the Asht that I didn't know!
I'm super stoked about this book.
I'm super stoked about this book.
I have another topic for my process, but I thought I might just talk about it here.
I started Undermountain during NaNoWriMo a couple years ago. I had no idea what I was doing. I had a bunch of world building notes and a vague notion that I wanted a group of teens to go to the bigfeet's hidden city. What I didn't have was any characters, any major plot points, or any idea how the story would end.
For Afterlife, I outlined for a while until I couldn't stand not working on scenes. In particular a scene where Danny meets a certain ancient queen just got me really enthusiastic about writing.
For Book III, I am holding back a bit, and really focussing on the major plot issues and character arcs. I plan for this to be the final installment, so I need to make sure I tie up all the lose ends.
The good news is that I know how it ends, and I have never been so excited about getting to an ending. I can hardly wait to write it!
And that's good, because to release it on time (end of December) I have to be done with the first draft by the end of September.
