"The quicker we can get him back on his feet, the better. I need details about Nik's lair and plan," he added, pacing in front of Ryder as Jaze fixed him up.

((I really am horrible at replying on here. Feel free to yell at me. And sorry for the kinda sucky post.))

"Okay, you're going to have to tell me what you know," Jones insisted, trying not to sound too impatient. "Hm, yeah, okay," Ryder agreed, closing his eyes and gathering energy. "The hideout, it's in an abandoned warehouse. He's recruiting other downworlders to his army. Aly is still trapped..."

Nik slid a knife out of his belt and twirled it in his hands. The doors to the Institute stood inches away, but he needed Xavier before he could do anything.

Finally, Xavier stepped out from the corner, flocked by two vamps, a wizard and a rogue werewolf. "On rent for the night," he told Nik, brandishing his own knife as well. He wasn't a man of physical violence but he was definitely going to protect himself. "Don't harm Ryder everyone," he then ordered, refusing that his creation be hurt in this battle. "Everyone else is up for grabs."

Nik nodded in agreement. "Remember; the enemy is the one shooting at you. Don't hesitate." He kicked open the doors and strode in.

Jones stiffened, hearing commotion from downstairs. "Jaze..." he warned, not feeling right. He pulled out his own steele and moved to the door.
Xavier led his groupies through the door after Nik, signalling where they should go to.

Nik steeled himself and gripped his blade tighter. "I know you're in here Ryder." He called. "Come out, come out, little mouse."

Jones froze when he heard the voice, and signalled back to Jaze. "Nik's here," he hissed. "He's coming for Ryder. We need to get him to safety."
Xavier studied the Institute interior, noticing how the rooms were laid out and where the exits were. "Let's make sure no one escapes..."["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

"Coming out to play?" Xavier called up, wondering where they could be. Why hadn't anyone greeted them? Where were all the shadowhunters? The Institute would usually be crowded, no?

"Jaze get him out of here. I'm going to hold them back for as long as possible, understood?" he ordered, moving to the door. He had one hand on the door, pushing it open the slightest bit.

Behind her glasses, Jaze's eyes were wide. She didn't bother to conceal her worry, letting it show openly on her features. "I-I... I... Yes, but what about you?" She said, keeping her voice down. Letting Nik get Ryder again would be bad, really bad, but she didn't like the idea of leaving Jones behind. Yeah, he was experienced, but if Nik had others with him, she doubted that they would fight fair.

"Ryder is dangerous and a great asset to them if he's in their possession. Protect him, and don't tell me where you'll go. Just leave," Jones returned, drawing runes on his arm to prepare for battle.

Nik strolled casually through the halls, almost reaching the infirmary. The runes covering his arms shone wickedly black in the witchlight. "Xavier, if one of your vampires could run ahead and...get the show on the road, this might go a lot more quickly. I want to be back for dinner." He said.

"Got you. Altaï, get a move on," he agreed and ordered, throwing two fingers in the direction the wizard was to head in as to not alert Jones verbally. The clawed wizard hurried ahead to the door of the infirmary and listened in to the commotion inside. He then began to quietly work his magic. As Jones helped point out another exit route for Ryder and Jaze - through the window.

A thought occurred to Nik, and he stopped dead in his tracks. "Xavier...they know we're here...they might try to escape by other means." His face paled. "Send someone to cover the outside." He pushed his way to the front of the group and stood impatiently by the wizard. "Sometime today, Downworlder."

Ryder tried to help Jaze but found he was still weak and disoriented. "Are we...fire escape?" he asked unintelligibly as Jones fought off the wizard.

"Keep your attention on me you traitor!" Jones called, wanting Nik's attention away from Ryder as he pulled out his steele.

Jaze didn't respond verbally, not wanting to waste time talking, but she did narrow her eyes when she heard the word 'girlie'. She quickly pulled Ryder back, pushing him towards the window. Positioning herself between her friend and the warlock, she kicked out at Xavier's knee in an attempt to either make him fall or push him back. She'd be fine if either of those results happened.

"I'm not on any side." Nik answered. "I'm impartial. It's the only way. And once I dispose of you, and take control of the Institute, I will be that much closer to my goal." He grinned. His arm lashed out as Jones, the blade catching him on the arm. Nik snatched it back and dashed to the other side of the Shadowhunter, trying to confuse him.

"Nik! They're leaving!" Xavier yelled, preparing to jump out of the window with Jaze and Ryder.

Jones, when he though Nik wasn't looking, leapt onto him to pin him down.
