Upset that Alex Pettyfer isn't going to play Jace? Why you shouldn't be.
i don't like either. i know casting cant be perfect and the reason we all want a different jace is because we all imagined a different jace while reading, and everyone cant be pleased. so im ok with it i guess. however i will say this is almost as depressing as when i found out who would play finnik odare (i think thats spelled right) in the hunger games.i guess i just dont agree with the masses.

I really think that Alex should have been Jace. No offence to Jamie, but he just doesn't.... LOOK right. Alex is a lot closer to what I thought Jace looks like.
I think Jace would have best been portrayed by either Morgan Freeman or Miley Cyrus.

@Ariane and other readersJust ignore Catherine the Troll. She is a total joke. She has too much energy in real life (maybe excessive dark energy) so she has to channel it on internet. She works better when she can make us angry. I am not sure why she picked Goodreads and not fanfic pages. Maybe they also kicked her out of boredom...

I'm trying to be open-minded about Jamie being cast as Jace, but I have some drawbacks...1.) Jamie speaks with a British accent. I don't have anything against British people, but did anyone really picture Jace, from NEW YORK, having a BRITISH accent???
2.) Jamie sometimes has stubble in the trailers from what I've seen. Don't the books describe Jace as being "clean shaven"?? (correct me if I'm wrong)
3.) From the trailers, (and the rest of the movie might prove different but..) Jamie always seems so serious, I mean where's the funny, sarcastic, Jace "Wayland" that we've all come to know and love???
Maybe it's just me but Jamie just isn't my Jace. I'm one of those people who imagine their dream characters, and then no one compares to them. I'm sure that Jamie will do a fantastic job regardless in the movies, and I'll just have to wait to see it, then I'll reevaluate. And sorry if I seem negative or anything because I'm not trying to be. :)
Alex was never offered the role of Peeta, it was just a rumor he spread himself. Lionsgate offically made a comment saying it wasn't true. I'm happy Pettyfer didn't get casted because he's so cocky(best word I can think of for him that isn't a cuss word). He's really arrogant and full of himself. No one needs to deal with that on a set especially for something that will be going on for years.
Just a note about the British accent thing-- Because a majority of the actors playing Shadowhunters are British, they decided to keep the accents, because they could plausibly have Idrisian accents. This was confirmed by Ms. Clare.
I never wanted Alex Pettyfer, I don't think he can act. I haven't seen one movie with him in it that hasn't been horrible and I could never understand why he was wanted for this part. I never saw Jamie playing Jace when I was reading it, but I never saw any actor playing Jace, now that Jamie has been cast I'm thrilled. I could watch Sweeney Todd every single day of my life and not get tired of it, Jamie is a great actor and he will do well in this part, or else they wouldn't have casted him and Cassandra wouldn't lie and tell us he's perfect.

I just think that jaime doesn't quite have those sexy good looks and cocky nature that is essentially Jace.I mean he is nice looking, but he isn't Jace-Hot.
Jamie does not look hot like Jace does. And Cassie I love you, but you are saying that Alex is too old to play the 17 year old teen? Jamie is 24! Alex is 23! So shouldn't Jamie be too old for the part too? And Jamie looks like he is 30, not 17. I don't think that Alex can act tho. So for Jace I'd say neither? Alex has the look, Jamie might be able to act. Only time will tell if they picked the right Jace.
well lets get my opinion straight my heart warmed to jamie and i think he deserves and suits the role of jace!!!!!!!!
At first I was very upset that Alex wasn't going to play the part, but then I saw the movie trailer and, call me crazy, but Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower actually look so great together. I can't wait to watch it.
In my mind I always pictured Alex Pettyfer as Jace but I don't know, maybe Jamie can play a good jace, I haven't really seen his acting much. But in terms of looks I think Alex is more like Jace.

I'm not at all upset that Alex won't ever be portraying Jace; his acting is less than stellar. I can't, however, say that I'm thrilled that Jamie has taken on the role.I'm hoping that his acting will make up for what he lacks in my eyes.

The first person i saw as Jace was absolutely Alex Pettyfer.. But after i watched Magic Mike (i didn't know it was SPG, i thought it was just a comedy movie)i became thankful that he wasn't picked as Jace.. why? (watch magic mike) it's just that i feel that i've seen Pettyfer's whole body ( esp. his mango). And when Jamie was picked, i was grateful because i think he's a nice guy (which really was).And yes, Jamie is really adorable.
Actually, I was really happy when I heard that Alex Pettyfer turned down the role for Jace. I'm not a very big fan of him.It's true Jamie doesn't look like Jace. Jamie is hot but not in Jace's way of hot. And I didn't even heard of him before. But now after watching some of his interviews, I'm so much in love with him. He has this weird personality and I love it. Who knows he might be perfect Jace. Let's make our judgement after watching his acting.

Seriously, I can't imagine Alex Pettyfer being Peeta in The Hunger Games. XD Anyway, maybe. Just maybe Cassie's right Jamie casting him as Jace. And oh, the movie comes in one day for pete's sake! I'm excited although I don't like the trailer, and I'm about to think that the movie would just ruin the whole series but yeah, give it a chance.
I honestly think that Jamie did an amazing job as Jace seeing as I just saw the movie I think it is fantastical and hope that in City of Ashes they say all the lines from page 150. It was hilarious when Simon said "That you freed a possible criminal by trading away your brother to a warlock who looks like a gay Sonic the Hedgehog and dresses like the Child Catcher from 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang?"
Jamie has everything but the angelic stunning look of Jace Wayland... :)
i don't care if alex isn't jace, i just don't want jamie to play jace, he may be "boyish" enough, but he doesn't have a hard enough face, his features tend to be too soft and though he may end up being a good jace i can't picture him as jace because i personally think he is too tall and wiry, i pictures jace to be built completely differentlybut thats just me
I just saw CoB's trailer on the theater yesterday. The feeling is worse watching Jace on a very big screen. I got the impression that people who have not read about TMI were also not impressed with Jace. My friend asked me if I am mad enough to love that Jace like crazy. Jace according to the books should stun people just by looking at him. I don't think Jamie is handsome or sarcastic enough as Jace. The whole package looks wrong. I hope Jamie's acting skill can make me love movie's Jace more, for the look is hopeless.
I just seen tmi and I loved it..while I expected someone a little more buff and all for jaces character I still think jamie did an awesome job. All the characters were perfect..including simon..I LOVE this series its the best I'm like so into simon tho...anyhoo great job guys can't wait for the next one!!!!
