why isnt skyclan mentioned before?

why isnt skyclan mentioned before this book? does this book come before skyclan's destiny? why does firestar's kittypet friend, smudge, have the same weird dream that firestar has?

Firestar's quest comes after the first series, and yea, read it before sky owns destiny

I think Smudge had the dream because his house is located where Skyclan's camp used to be.

Did any of you guys notice that in most of the books Erin Hunter says that Starclan in the 5th clan but in Firestar's quest it says that Skyclan is....?
Oh and in Dawn Firestar says they leave unless the 5th clan leaves too. Anyone think it would be cool if Skyclan stayed in the forest and still existed where the twoleg place is?

Because SkyClan was a lost Clan and StarClan didn't know they were still alive.

Also I think because Skyclan knew Firestar would eventually hear of the dream from Smudge which was originally intended for Firestar. I think they sent for him because he wasn't clan born and they were mad at the clans.

SkyClan wasn't mentioned before because StarClan was too ashamed to tell the Clans that there was another Clan out there.

Is Skyclan mentioned in the beginning of the clans? At warriors.com they say that there were small groups, and then there was a big battle, and then the clans left were thunder,river, shadow, and wind. But what about sky in Skyclan?

Yeah I think the Erin Hunter group is making it up as she goes along. Like you said, when there was the big battle and the cats separated into Clans, there was no cat named Sky. All the OTHER leaders introduced themselves...I don't think they thought of that one;)

To be more prosaic than I like to be, the reason Skyclan was never mentioned before is because Erin Hunter didn't come up with the idea until after the first series ended. Then she (they) decided, "Hey, this could be cool, let's add it to the story as a side-plot!"

But to answer in story terms, it's simple. Over time, Skyclan was forgotten; the clans didn't pass down the knowledge of their existence because it was a shameful topic. Starclan, too, was shamed. That's why Skyclan was forgotten, and why it was never mentioned--until, come Firestar's Quest, the truth came out.

Skystar is CLear Sky, WInd, is Windstar, Thunder is Thunderstar, and Tallshadow is ShadowStar.

Tall Shadow isn't Shadowstar there is actually a real Shadow that is made Shadowstar but I do believe that Clear Sky might be Skystar
