Laina (laineyru) I didn't like the main characters in Eclipse. I mean, I like Jasper (as I did when I read Twlight...) and it was nice to see what was up with Rosalie, but I especially didn't like the way Bella was acting. Seriously, if you read Twilight and then go straight to Eclipse, you'll see a major change for the worse in both Bella and Edward. I thought that Stephenie wasn't true to the story but rather true to what she knew people would read. I mean the action was cool I guess, and overall the story is as intriguing as all of them, but I perfer to read good writing that is true to the story and not the money.

Hm...I disagree...I don't think Meyer wrote that in a way only for the money. And the plot was much more complex than Twilight and New Moon, which is good.

message 53: by Laina (new)

Laina (laineyru) I'm not talking about the plot. And the fact that the impression I got from the way she wrote it for why she wrote it (that makes no sense but oh well) is beside the point. My main arguement is the way the characters change. Some people will say that a book is its characters (this isn't true... it's the relationships between characters that make a book interesting and pushes it forward) and I did not like what the characters did. And I was uncomfortably with them. They held no appeal for me any more.

And I promise I'll stop argueing now. :) It's a very unhealthy addiction...

Hannah (ophelia17) | 67 comments i have problems with both series
JKR uses way too many adjectives and her writing makes me cringe. i LOVE the stories to death but i dont like her writing. i'm not arguing just stating my opinion. what hooked the world on HP wasnt her style, it was her genius idea

meyer just bugs me. i dont think twilights are that great. i just dont like the characters and dont really care what happens just because of the way meyer presents them. i was infatuated with them at first but it past.

i read both but just for fun, like i read the clique series and gossip girl

message 55: by Laina (new)

Laina (laineyru) you made some really great points, Hannah. I agree with you--with reservations. :)

Peaches by Jodi Lynn Anderson. I was extremely excited when I saw the sequel in the bookstore. :P

Veronica (v_a_b) | 2889 comments Mod
lol. It was a pretty good book.

message 75: by Riley (new)

Riley (booksarecool) J.K. Rowling writes how I talk. I think they're easy to read, and that's a good book right there. Yes, anything by Stephen King or James Patterson is wonderful. Some things by Dean Coot are good, and that one chick that wrote Serpent Tide.

yeah i like james patterson's writing style. it doesn't seem really sophisticated, but i think he says a lot w/just a few words... idk if anyone else here reads max ride, for example; everything in it happens so fast, like so many things happen on one page it's amazing. lol. XD

message 77: by [deleted user] (new)

I know, I love his books. I read the third one in one day.
Even though I didn't like how he went 'green' most of the book.

message 78: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments The fourth one is when he went green. I hope that if he makes a fifth book it's worth reading, not that it wasn't, but it wasn't as good since it was all abou tbeing green.

message 79: by [deleted user] (new)

I thought it was the third? oh well, is the fifth the one called the Final Warning?cause I thought there was only four.

Xerxes Break(Vivian Ephona) (ephona) Nope the fifth one hasn't come out yet

message 81: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, good. the third was going green, it bugged me.

message 82: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments I mean that I hope his next book it worth reading - if he makes another one 'cause the fourth book disappointed me.

Xerxes Break(Vivian Ephona) (ephona) I haven't even read it yet cause the library don't have it...but my english teacher does so yeah

message 84: by [deleted user] (new)

OOOH!! I haven't read the fourth book yet. i'm gonna do it soon!
But i've decided to give Inkspell another try.

I LOVED Inkheart and Inkspell!! I can't wait for the third and last book to come out. It's been a really long time!!

message 86: by [deleted user] (new)

I guess it's okay, I tried to read the beginning of Inkspell before, and I didn't like it. But it's actually pretty good.

message 87: by Sella, ov vey! i haven't checked this group in months. >< (new)

Sella Malin | 4530 comments Mod
Yeah.

message 88: by Laina (new)

Laina (laineyru) i read inkheart and then stopped. i had inkspell in my room at one time, but i think i had to take it back to the library before i read it.

message 89: by Kenzie (last edited Aug 07, 2008 05:37PM) (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments I didn't really like them. I tried reading one, and got totally bored. It surprised me because I like most of Cornelia Funke's writing.
