Chloe I may be just stupid, but I didn't really understand the end of this book. It was so inconclusive. I know why there were nine parts, but why did the author end it so suddenly? Why is there nothing in part nine? I would be grateful is someone would help me understand.

Mary I would have to go back and listen again, but my recollection of Revolution No. 9 on the Beatles' White Album is that it ends abruptly.

Megan During the chapter before it in which all the dreaming occurs, Lennon tells Eiji that "The ninth dream begins after every ending".

Chloe Thanks for the comments. Both are very helpful, I now understand a lot better! :)

Ken I thought the ending was perfect. Absolutely perfect. The 9th part is unwritten. Eiji can write his own future. It is his chance to dream and make his dream real. Not knowing what happens to his mother and his lover is the most realistic jumping off point - the start of this new story. What will he do?

Marianne thank goodness for GR discussions! Though part 9 was probably meant to be blank, but just wasn't absolutely certain I didn't have a faulty copy.
@ Kenneth, your comments on the ending are very helpful!

Andy Henshaw Thanks for asking the question and making me realise I wasn't the only one left in the dark. Thankfully there are many more intelligent people out there!!
