Kohana was ploughing in the fields under the hot afternoon sun. She sowed in seeds and patted it down. In the fields, other women, old and young, worked together. She peered around at the horizon to see the boys, galloping with their horses across the grassland, towards the village. They were whooping and yelling, as if they had hunted a deer down. "Hmph." She sighed, annoyed. She wanted to go on that very hunt but she was 15 now and like Aunt Birch kept reminding her "You are a woman now. Do womanly things, blah blah blah." She rolled her eyes. Maybe Breeze will consent to a ride later.
