Claire (cacromwell) | 221 comments I like the Gotham part ... easier to match than "The Big Apple", though that could be funny!

Gotham Reverie?

message 102: by Rigel (new)

Rigel | 27 comments "Gotham Ladies' Night"

message 103: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn Cochran | 164 comments Great ideas so far ... I'll work up a few logo options and bring them to the meetup. :)

Claire (cacromwell) | 221 comments Gotham Ladies Society?

I like the historical sound, and the fact that it isn't more specific, so we could be a society for anything, but it does kind of exclude the guy(s)!

Or Gotham Ladies Literary Society?

message 105: by Oshun (new)

Oshun I like Gotham by Gaslight. I have not been to a hookup, I just discovered the New York group (I'm in Brooklyn--used to lived a couple of block from where you are meeting). If anyone reading Swordspoint? If not I will have to check the other book for the month.

Claire (cacromwell) | 221 comments Paul & Storm are coming to NYC for an event with Wil Wheaton!!!!!

http://www.subculturenewyork.com/even...

Saturday, October 5th, 7:30pm, doors at 6:30. Tickets are $25 each. Anyone interested in going?

message 107: by Molly (new)

Molly Huggins (mollyvirginia) | 10 comments Definitely want to go!

I also saw something on twitter that at least Veronica and Felicia will be at NYCC, and maybe the possibility for a full on Vaginal Fantasy panel. Anyone else going to NYCC?

I'm furiously reading Swordspoint before the meet. Will try to make it!

Lecta | 87 comments Gotham by Gaslight sounds awesome, but it's already the title of a Batman comic. I'd rather have something of our own creation.

What about Gotham Quills & Quims? Or just Quills & Quims. It's like Vaginal Fantasy, but in an old-timey fashion. Plus, Felicia loves the word "quim."

message 110: by Lecta (new)

Lecta | 87 comments And I only just realized the double entendre of "quills."

message 111: by Claire (new)

Claire (cacromwell) | 221 comments Ooooh, I kind of love Quills & Quims!

message 112: by Claire (new)

Claire (cacromwell) | 221 comments Happy weekend everyone! Had a great meetup this afternoon - hi Peggy and Teresa! - and picked the date for August:

Saturday, August 31st
4pm
Argo Tea

Carolyn also had some great logo ideas and she'll be posting them here later. I think it would be easy enough to upload the final pick to Zazzle or CafePress and get some t-shirts, mugs or tote bags to spread the love of smut!

This is the best name! Bummed I couldn't be there yesterday, but looking forward to August's meet up!

Carolyn Cochran | 164 comments Ok, VF peeps. Vote for your favorite logo:

Pick Our New Logo

I will tabulate the votes on Wednesday, so we will have a logo in time for the main Google Hangout.

message 115: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn Cochran | 164 comments Don't forget to vote for your favorite group logo! I'll be tabulating votes tomorrow (Wednesday) at 3:00 pm, so get your vote in before it's too late!

Vote here: Pick Our New Logo

Claire (cacromwell) | 221 comments If anyone is a fan of Octavia Butler, the Brooklyn Brainery is doing a class on some of her short stories. Times are either Wed September 4th, or Sept 11th, both from 8:30 - 10pm. Apparently there will be sci-fi themed snacks, and they will email you the short story selections to read ahead of time.

Here's the link if you'd like to sign up:

Carolyn Cochran | 164 comments The votes are in and the stationery lovers have it! Option 4 is our new logo.

I will add the design (along with the second highest vote-grabber) to either Zazzle or Cafepress and post a link.

The image is available here: http://i.imgur.com/GvSCWz3.jpg

Carolyn Cochran | 164 comments Quills & Quims merch is up on Zazzle!

Let me know if you want any different styles/options and I will add.

message 119: by Lecta (new)

Lecta | 87 comments GAH!!! I've been on Fire Island and I didn't get to see or vote on anything. The graphics look great, Carolyn.

So my question is:
Are we officially "Gotham Quills & Quims" or "Quills & Quims"? When we decide (maybe via poll?) we should get our event name changed to include the group name. And maybe this thread too, or we could start a new one.

message 120: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn Cochran | 164 comments We decided on Gotham Quills & Quims and I second the thread and event name change!

message 121: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 20 comments The logo is amazing, Carolyn!

message 122: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn Cochran | 164 comments Thanks! Glad you guys like it. :)

Carolyn Cochran | 164 comments On Amazon today only: Board games on the gold buy deal. http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html...

message 124: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn Cochran | 164 comments I'm organizing a game night (afternoon?) either Sunday the 1st or the weekend of the 7th/8th at my place if anyone is interested. We just got a load of new board games and are itching to try them out!

message 125: by Gigi (new)

Gigi (g4tinspiration) hi GQ&Q I just joined I live on LI but a city girl I can do any Sunday meetups and would love to meet all of you

message 126: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn Cochran | 164 comments I'm going to have to flake on this month's meetup - because I suck and double-scheduled myself.

Boo! And I had such opinions about this month's main pick!!

For September, the only weekend I'm booked (so far) is the weekend of the 21st. Other than that, I'm open for whenever.

And the hubbs and I are still planning on doing a game afternoon/night at our place in BK if anyone is interested - either this Sunday or some time next weekend. Message/call/text if you're interested.

message 127: by Claire (new)

Claire (cacromwell) | 221 comments See you all tomorrow (today!) at 4pm!!
