Edie | 10 comments Count me in!

message 3: by Mari (new)

Mari (mariberries) im close to nyc. i live in northern nj.

message 4: by Steve (new)

Steve | 1 comments I also live in northern Jersey (Bergen County). Im up for a nyc hangout

message 5: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay (roguefire) | 85 comments I should (hopefully) be moving to NYC soon from Chicago, so I would love if one was already set up for me to meet people in the city! :)

Also, if anyone knows a museum hiring.....shoot me a msg!

message 6: by Brandi (new)

Brandi (biddywink) | 112 comments I live in Westchester, but I work in the city. I'd be up for a hangout!

message 7: by Claire (new)

Claire (cacromwell) | 221 comments I'm in Brooklyn and would love to do a meetup! I work retail so I'm not free until 8:30 or nine most nights except Friday and Sunday.

I don't know if anyone has an idea for any good places - a Starbucks/other coffee shop or a quieter bar might work. Starbucks is probably easier to find in a central location than an uncrowded, not too pricey bar.

message 8: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 20 comments I just started exploring the Vaginal Fantasy page. I live in Manhattan. I'd definitely be up for a local meetup!

message 9: by Christine (new)

Christine | 9 comments I'm in Brooklyn and would be up for something. Work in Queens though..

message 10: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 20 comments Has anyone been to the Way Station in Brooklyn? I haven't, but I heard it has a TARDIS.

message 11: by Claire (new)

Claire (cacromwell) | 221 comments Amanda wrote: "Has anyone been to the Way Station in Brooklyn? I haven't, but I heard it has a TARDIS."

I haven't been either, but I'm pretty sure a couple of my friends have been and liked it. Not so feasible for this month's pick, but could be very apropos for Bonnie's pick next month, since she has the stuffed TARDIS??

message 12: by Erik (new)

Erik Noren (eriknoren) | 2 comments I live and work in Midtown. Still new to the city and a bit reserved so I haven't explored much but I'm honestly surprised there isn't a group already!

message 13: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (joiseydani) | 31 comments I would love to get together with some VFers from NYC! I live in Jersey City, NJ and NYC is fairly close to me.

XOXO,
Danielle

message 14: by Holli (new)

Holli | 2 comments Did anyone actually start this group? I'd be interested in joining too, and live in Manhattan.

message 15: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 20 comments I don't think there has been a meet up yet. I'm new to Manhattan, so I'm up for meeting, but pretty low on ideas for places to meet.

message 16: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn Weis | 60 comments I'm out in Suffolk County but would travel into the city for a VF hangout!

message 17: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (joiseydani) | 31 comments There is this great tea house on University Place and 11th Street in Manhattan called Argo that I think would be a great place to meet up. I have been there at least twice and I enjoy it. Maybe there?

message 18: by Brandi (new)

Brandi (biddywink) | 112 comments Argo sounds nice, Danielle, especially being so close to a nice commuting hub like Union Square. What date and time work particularly well for everyone?

message 19: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (joiseydani) | 31 comments Any day but Tuesdays and Thursdays are good for me.

message 20: by Claire (new)

Claire (cacromwell) | 221 comments I have a knitting group that sometimes meets at that Argo tea! It is nice, but can sometimes be crowded, especially Friday afternoons with college back in session.

Mondays and Fridays are good for me!

message 21: by Mari (new)

Mari (mariberries) Fridays sound good. Really anything except Monday thru Wednesday. The week gets busy. :)
Should we plan to meet for next months book selection? Maybe we can ask Felicia for a quick shout out during the poison study/master of crows ep for ppl who do not read the forums.

message 22: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (joiseydani) | 31 comments That sounds like a great idea! Why don't we try to schedule a meetup on Friday November 2nd? That week is when the next Vaginal Fantasy hangout episode is.

message 23: by Claire (new)

Claire (cacromwell) | 221 comments I'm in!!!! Do we want to stick with Argo tea? What time works for everyone? I'm free after 4.

message 24: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (joiseydani) | 31 comments Argo Tea seems to be the best place as it is close to Union Square which is a major MTA hub. I am free after 3pm on Fridays and can be at Argo by 430pm.

message 25: by Alice (new)

Alice | 1 comments I'd like to suggest 6pm to account for those of us who work day jobs. Buy other than that, I'd love to swing by!

message 26: by Holli (new)

Holli | 2 comments Agreed, 6pm is better

message 27: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (joiseydani) | 31 comments 6pm is fine for me as well. So agreed -- NYC Vaginal Fantasy meet up/hangout on Friday November 2nd at 6pm at Argo?

message 28: by Claire (new)

Claire (cacromwell) | 221 comments Danielle wrote: "6pm is fine for me as well. So agreed -- NYC Vaginal Fantasy meet up/hangout on Friday November 2nd at 6pm at Argo?"

Added to my calender!!!

message 29: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (joiseydani) | 31 comments Yay! I can not wait to meet you Claire! We should all exchange numbers (private emails of course) to keep in touch.

My email is danisuicidaphoto@aol.com.

message 30: by Mari (new)

Mari (mariberries) :( i just happen to be traveling overseas next week. But Im definitely in for the next meetup.

message 31: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 20 comments I'd love to come as well! I haven't been on goodreads much, so I missed the meeting arranging. My email is madelinegraybahr@gmail.com

message 32: by Claire (new)

Claire (cacromwell) | 221 comments You can email me at cacromwell@gmail.com.

message 33: by Claire (new)

Claire (cacromwell) | 221 comments I added our planned meetup info to the thread for questions for tomorrow night's hangout. Hope everyone is staying safe and dry and will have power/internet to watch it!

message 34: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (joiseydani) | 31 comments Thank you so much Claire! I also tweeted Felicia to announce it tomorrow night. I as well hope everyone is staying safe and dry. If I do not get to watch it tomorrow night due to power or time I will definitely on Wednesday!

Now I just have to figure out what to wear on Friday so everyone will notice me...

message 35: by Michael (new)

Michael Peelman | 1 comments Hi everyone, this is one of Danielle's friends. Unfortunately, she will not be able to attend the meetup on Friday due to the storm aftermath. Her family is fine, but they are still without power. Those that are able to make it out are welcome to do so.

message 36: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 20 comments I am fine with postponing it until next week or later so Danielle and more people can be there. I heard that most of Lower Manhattan is not expected to have power until Friday or Saturday, so our meet up location may not be open.
What do you all think?

message 37: by Claire (new)

Claire (cacromwell) | 221 comments I think postponing is a good idea. With limited transportation and no power in the area, we might not have a place to sit if we could even make it there!

Shall we try for the same time next Friday? That will give us some time to get started on the current books as well.

message 38: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 20 comments That sounds great to me! I look forward to meeting everyone then!

message 39: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (joiseydani) | 31 comments Hey everyone! I finally got power back tonight. Thanks to Michael for posting for me. Yes postponing is an excellent idea as I still have no way to get into NYC yet but can we postpone to possibly November 17th which is a Saturday? I will be away next week. Let me know all!

~Danielle

message 40: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 20 comments November 17th works for me

message 41: by Claire (new)

Claire (cacromwell) | 221 comments As long as I have train service (poor G/L lines!) by then, I'm in! Doing the bus to walk to train route for work is killing me :(

What time is everyone thinking?

message 42: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (joiseydani) | 31 comments I am thinking sometime in the afternoon...maybe 2-3pm?

message 43: by Claire (new)

Claire (cacromwell) | 221 comments Bumping this back to the top as we get closer to the weekend!

Does 2pm this Saturday the 17th sound good for everyone?

message 44: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (joiseydani) | 31 comments That works for me! I am wondering if someone who works in the Union Square area could make sure that Argo is open. I would not want everyone to head down there and it is still closed.

message 45: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay (roguefire) | 85 comments Just a note - when I was visiting and checking out Brooklyn (my future home!) I discovered the Way Station and it is AMAZING. And the regulars in there are super nice. The TARDIS is the bathroom and Matt Smith and Karen Gilliam actually autographed it inside.

It was a bit loud when I was there but it was at night - so perhaps in the afternoon it would be a good meet up place. I'd highly recommend it. And get the Captain Jack specialty drink!

Hope to be there sooner rather than later and meet everyone.

message 46: by Claire (new)

Claire (cacromwell) | 221 comments I can try and head over there after work on Friday and make sure they're back open, though I think most everything is back to normal. And hey, that will put me near Strand and I'll have to go see what's new there!

message 47: by Claire (new)

Claire (cacromwell) | 221 comments Confirmed open for tomorrow!

message 48: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (joiseydani) | 31 comments Thank you Claire! So ladies the time is upon us to have our first meet up! I will try and get there by 2pm but with a cane and my legs, I might be late. I have rheumatoid arthritis if that means anything. If someone does get there before me, please find a table and make a sign that says NYC Vaginal Fantasy. If I do get there before everyone, I will be wearing a leopard sweater and have a flowery cane with me. See you ladies tomorrow!

message 49: by Claire (new)

Claire (cacromwell) | 221 comments I requested that our December meetup be posted in the group events (you need a mod's permission) but I'll post the info here too:

Saturday, December 8th at 2pm! Argo Tea on University and 11th, near Union Square. We'll talk about the December picks, review the November picks and anything else that comes to mind!

It was so nice to meet both Amanda and Danielle in person!

message 50: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 20 comments I enjoyed meeting you and Danielle too! I'm looking forward to next Saturday's meeting!
