Well I would love to add in my two cents here :)

I released my first novel (ever) a few weeks back an Amazon. I didn't tell anyone I knew - wanting any reviews I recieved to be unbiased.

I got some fairly good comments but my major flaw was the editing.(Which I now have placed the ebook into draft mode to rehash and tighten up.)

However, having said that - no I promise I didn't miss the point of this thread - I got my first 'bad review' right here on GR's! LOL, now I will say when I first read it I was screaming out, no no no, that's not what I meant, really it's not, and after I read it about 20 times I took a deep breath and thought to myself - Hey I don't like all the books I've read - and not everyone is going to like mine.

The one thing I will say though is, I believe there is a way to critique and review a book and that a person has put their hard work into without being rude and genreally just spiteful.

I offer you all the chance to read my 'bad' review, in the spirit of sharing, just so you can see what I had to read and let go - it's under my book on my page, trust me you can't miss it ;)

So in the end we just do our best put it out there and HOPE people will enjoy it and GET it..and if they don't just chalk it up to - the story was not for them.

Xx Ella

If it's someone giving a bad review just to give a bad review, then no, I don't want it.

Lynxie | 95 comments @Ella ~ I think the person was honest. She provided insight as to why she rated so low, so I think in the grand scheme of things that bad review is one of the 'good bad reviews'.

I think she makes valid points, but having not read your book I can't really comment on if I too would think that way.

Seems that the bulk of readers seem to like it though to that sounds promising :)

Miles Gentry (miles_gentry) | 8 comments Ron's point is very solid. Furthermore, good or bad review - chalk up another reader! To have readers who don't like it for various "personal" reasons, is better than to have no readers at all. Eventually, those whom are interested in your style or genre will find the book, and you will find your audience. :-)

Great insight Ella.

Well I agree to a certain degree about her backing up her insight so yep, some people will like it and others will not - sometimes just more passionately then you expect. :)

In the end your skin gets a little thicker
