What I do is replace the covers in the eBooks with the better (I think AU) covers. This way, I never have to see the awful covers that the US gets. The author name takes up 3/4th of the cover. That's just silly. Also, if she is going to put on the cover that it's Nora Roberts writing as J. D. Robb, she may as well just go by Nora Roberts. It's pathetic.

message 705: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments I think it was the publishers decision. To pull in a Roberts' readers. How do you change the cover on your ebook?

Ana Luiza S. Delboni | 1 comments I'm reading Interlude in Death!

You're close to catching up with our Buddy Read! We're starting Reunion.

message 708: by Randi (new)

Randi | 93 comments I finished the first part of Remember When (in death #17.5) by Nora Roberts it was OK, I guess since it's a novella things have to happen fast, but it kind of annoyed me how (view spoiler)

message 709: by Vicki (new)

Vicki | 47 comments I just finished Kindred in this pass through. Now I am wanting an engagement ring for Peabody in the next Christmas book. A long engagement building up to another wedding with Peabody's full family and Roarke's family moving in for the big event. I see Peabody flashing her new engagement ring just like she did her badge.

Then my mind goes to all the possibilities of what McNab would wear. You can all guess who the flower girl will be and who will do the gowns. I see the wedding as a great way to bring back a lot of my favorite bits and pieces from all of the series.

I just love to guess what the new books will bring when I listen to this series. Each time I go through it I find another direction to go.

Can't tell you and that's not who Vicki was referring to.

message 713: by Randi (new)

Randi | 93 comments LOL, OK, good, thank you! Now I'm even more motivated to get through the series. Every book has it's own wonderfulness, be it the mystery to unravel, the personal storyline or both. I can barely read any other authors because all I can think of is getting back to Eve and (Yumm yummm yummm) Roarke.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15057 comments Mod
Meant to put a smile at the end of that:)

Randi, I was the same way. I just kept wanting MORE.

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11212 comments Mod
LOL Randi! I'm so glad this series has you hooked. I remember thinking that I had never met a hero quite like Roarke or a heroine like Eve. :)

message 716: by Vicki (new)

Vicki | 47 comments What about Nixie or one of Peabody's many young relatives. Then you could go the other direction and have Granny Peabody.

If you look to McNab's side of the family his cousin Sheila might have a kid by now.

message 717: by Randi (new)

Randi | 93 comments Well I finally finished Remember When (in death #17.5) by Nora Roberts in between all my family/house issues. I don't usually like novellas, even the In Death novellas aren't my faves, but this book was great as it's two interconnected stories for the price of one.

We sure do meet a lot of really nice characters in our In Death journey through the books. And lots of bad characters.

Oh, this series is notorious for creating some serious bad guys.

This series has some of the sickest, vile villains I think I've ever read. Seriously sick, methodical, and cruel. Robb is one of the best at it, imo. And does such a good job of weaving them into the story and disguises them in such a way that you don't recognize that they're are so evil at first.

I agree and some are not just evil, they are eee-vil.

I'm a big Summerset fan, Randi. I know some are not but I love the banter between him & Eve...I think it adds some humor & snark to the books.

message 731: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15057 comments Mod
Summerset is a major character factor in this series. He will definitely be in the stories going forward, including the one you're currently reading, Randi.

message 732: by Randi (new)

Randi | 93 comments LOL, thank you Jonetta. I just bumped into Summerset 10 minutes ago! I was just jonesing for that skinny-ass son of a gun. I really like him, he adds much needed comic relief.

Jessica (imjess2) I'm almost done with Promises. Poor Morris :(

message 738: by Mara (new)

Mara Pemberton (marapem) It's a love hate relationship between Summerset & Eve. But I know they would have each others back and look out for each other if need be.

Under all the bluster between them, they do respect each other. He has new name from Bella--Sums***. Which Eve loves.

message 739: by Gabrielle (new)

Gabrielle | 181 comments i love eve she is still my favorite agree with you mara

message 740: by Paula (new)

Paula | 245 comments Just finished Conspiracy in Death. I initially thought Morris, the ME was doing the killings. How wrong I was. Peabody is awesome in this one. I love Peabody. She is so loyal. Roarke's devotion just keeps getting better. I am going to be hated for this comment but i'll make it anyway. I think Eve is getting angrier and angrier with each book. She was so angry in this one. I like the fact that Eve is a good cop and is an advocate for victims regardless of who they are. BUT she can be very rude and brutal to people crossing her path and people who love her. My feelings about Eve are filled with so much conflict. It just depends on the book I am reading. She really bonded with Roarke in this book and I loved that. Roarke deserved that.

message 741: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11212 comments Mod
Eve can be very blunt and even brutal, Paula, I agree. We've witnessed it in some different books, some more than others. Roarke helps ground her but she never completely mellows out...and I don't guess she would be our Eve if she did.

message 742: by Dee (new)

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 1070 comments All of a sudden I can't seem to get enough of the In Death series. I have read this series so many times I can't count, and for awhile I really burned out of the series. Now I am readdicted! Couldn't wait to reread Purity. I will be ready for next month's discussion.

Funny how that happens, Dee. I'm the same way. I get a bit burned out on one particular series (I'm a binger & tend to read them all when I start a good series) but if I take a little break and come back, I'm hooked all over again. This series definitely does that! Looking forward to Purity.

message 747: by Elle (new)

Elle Rush (ellerush) | 28 comments I just burned through books 9-16 and then stalled out on "Imitation in Death". I think it was a case of too much of a good thing. I'll have to pace myself better in the future.

message 748: by Randi (new)

Randi | 93 comments LOL, I understand Elle! Every once in a while I get overdosed on the In Death series, so I take a break and read something different. But honestly, by the time I'm halfway through the 'different' book, I'm craving the next In Death! But it really is good to take a break now and then, makes me appreciate the series that much more.
Although, I read Nora Robert's Circle Trilogy back to back and enjoyed every minute of it. Still, in the back of my mind was Eve and (pant pant pant) Roarke.

I read so many other books each month that it breaks it up for me. I keep a reread of In Death going almost all the time but also read several other books/genres every month. My first time reading the series, I would read 5 or 6 In Death books and then take a break. Otherwise, all the books/mysteries/villains began to run together.

So right Sandra, one needs a break to keep the others fresh.
