I think this movie was great too. I love Robert Downey Jr. I think there will be another but not for a while. In the meanwhile you have to make do with the TV series.
there was a few quotes from the books but I did not really like this one as much as I did the first one.
Hey it's okay!!!!!!!!!! Wow Mel ;) it's okay, I was upset too at first ;) next one comes in 2014, right?
Oh yeah!!! I think it's called The Return of Sherlock Holmes or something like that. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!
I can't wait to see if the movie makers describe Holmes' appearance at the end of the story (I don't want to give any spoilers) in the same way as the book. I can't wait until 2014! Doyle was clever!
Can't Believe it!!!! I hope that it comes out!!!http://moviepilot.com/movies/593262-s...
What do you think?
*dies* PLEASE OH PLEASE OH PLEASE GIFT THE WORLD WITH ONE MORE SHERLOCK HOLMES MOVIE THAT'S ALL I ASK OH PLEASEEEEEE!!! :'D
Oh yes, these movies have all been so epic and awesome.
And I don't care what anyone says, there is no rule that states you must pick a favorite Sherlock Holmes. At one point I was leaning toward Robert Downey Jr., but nowadays I just love both RDJ and Benedict Cumberbatch for uniquely amazing portrayals of Holmes. :3 So excited that we're getting both a Sherlock series three AND a third Sherlock Holmes movie! Hooray! People are so good to us Sherlockians. ^_^

I totally agree with you!! I love both of them. They are both awesome as Sherlock Holmes.I haven't seen the first one (movie) yet but it is on my list. I just have to wait for my family to want to watch it.
It's so hard to choose which movie I like better, but the first one is sssoooooo good. :))) And there's so many quotes from the stories in that one. Every time there was a Holmes quote I would get this little grin on my face and go- "I see what you did there..." X3
So I talked my family into watching it and it was awesome!!!! :D They did a great job. You're right about the quote. I loved it!!!
You can tell when someone hasn't read the Sherlock Holmes stories when they write this piece to describe the movie. From moviefone.com rating of the top movies of 2009.
36. 'Sherlock Holmes'
What if Arthur Conan Doyle's master sleuth were just as adept with his fists as with his brain? He'd be Robert Downey Jr.'s bare-knuckle-boxing Holmes in this slick reinvention of the Brit detective. The dialogue snaps, the action comes fast and furious, and Downey and Jude Law (as his loyal but frustrated sidekick Watson) have better chemistry than most rom-com couples. Yes, the game truly is afoot. -- TD
Well, maybe it's not so obvious to all, but Sherlock is actually a skilled pugilist. There are plenty of examples where he knocked someone out with his fists.
Downey's my all time favorite Sherlock, with Robert Stephens a close second. I loved the first film too, but it did disappoint a little. A Game of Shadows I thought was the best interpretation of the Final Problem and Holmes vs Moriarty to date. The Brett version was dry, and the Reichenbach Fall as great as it was, wasn't quite the same thing. Granted, A Game of Shadows did flesh the story out.

I agree, A Game of Shadows REALLY did a fantastic job on portraying The Final Problem. And I've never seen any Jeremy Brett Holmes stuff. Perhaps I'll look into that.

The first series, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes was great. It ended with the Final Problem, which was really good, and Eric Porter was especially great as Moriarty. I still prefer A Game of Shadows, as I like big screen ones compared to tv, and the Downey Jr films have a lot more "life" to them, compared to a lot of tv versions which can be dry. I also like the decision of both Guy Ritchie in the films and BBC on the show Sherlock to use younger actors to portray Holmes and Watson, which actually keeps more with the books than the majority of other Holmes adaptations, where Holmes and/or Watson are sometimes 30 years older than they would have been in the respective story or time period. The other Brett series, The Return, Casebook, and Memoirs, were all good, but gradually went downhill. Just a note: the series' names were chosen more randomly, and don't necessarily contain stories from the short story books of the same names. In fact, Memoirs had virtually no stories from the book Memoirs. It was the last series and mostly had stories from Casebook and His Last Bow. It was also weak in that Brett was ill at the time (and died shortly after), and they even had to adjust the plot in a couple of them so it was actually Mycroft and Watson solving the cases! Given that it was Mycroft, it was still good.
I hereby abolish the director of this movie and Robert Downey Junior, from the Sherlock Holmes kingdom. I will not ramble, because everyone knows why so many hated it. Destruction of a beautiful character.

All in all, this was an exceptionordinarily fantabulous movie. I am hopefully awaiting a sequel? Please? Pretty please?
