Do you guys realize it's been a full year since our first group read Last Night in Twisted River? A WHOLE YEAR! Wow! Where has the time gone? We certainly had fun reading and discussing THAT book. It was one people loved or loved to hate. It has stuck with me all this time.

Anyway, this time we are starting this year off with The Store by Bentley Little from the horror genre. I'm looking forward to it.

Stephen King recommends this author and book. He says: "BEST OUTRIGHT HORROR NOVELIST. Bentley Little, in a walk. Don't know Bentley Little? You're not alone. He's probably the genre's best-kept secret, but at least 10 of his novels are available in paperback; you can pick up three for the price of that flashy new hardcover you've got your eye on. The best thing about Little is that he can go from zero to surreal in 6.0 seconds. My favorites are The Store (think Wal-Mart run by SAYYY-tan) and Dispatch, in which a young fellow discovers that his letters to the editor actually get things done. Bad things.

Looking for a copy to buy. Amazon has used copies for 1 penny with $3.99 shipping. That's $4. Not bad, eh?

Hope we can get a few people to join us in discussion this time around!

Linda Boyd (boydlinda95gmailcom) | 598 comments I'm excited to start reading this one - but I may not get a chance until late August/early September, I have so many books I want to read for the month of August, don't know how that happened!!!

Great to see you'll be joining us, Connie! What fun!

Nikki I am ready to discuss this one. I read it a few years ago, still own my copy (cannot seem to part with any of my books) and will read along again.

I have personally read every single book this man has written, and I agree with King, he is one of the best kept secrets of the genre. No holding back when it comes to his writings.

Janice (jamasc) | 801 comments I'll see if I can fit it in. I've got a list of books for August.... but this one is Orange. Incentive, indeed! LOL!

Yes, orange is definitely an incentive for reading this in August. (Note: Janice and I belong to another group that does challenges. Part of our Rainbow challenge is to read orange books in August. Check the group out, if you like: http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/1...)

Blurb on the front of my paperback by Stephen King: "A Master of the Macabre!"

Bram Stoker winner for Little's novel Revelation.

Stephen King blurb on 1st page of book: "This is Bentley Little's best book yet. Frightening, thought-provoking, and impossible to put down."
