Why does the book have to kill off Lawfayette so early and the show not include "Bubba"?

There are so many things we have to love about the books and series separately. I wish they would find a happy median. What do y'all have to love separately about the book and show?

I remember an interview where Alan Ball was asked about Bubba. He said something like he is a big Elvis fan and he didn't want some impersonator on the show. I agree with him and I'm happy there is no Bubba in the show. But I love him in the books.I have to say I love the books and I love the series and I love them both because of the differences. I've read all the books and it's great to get some new characters and surprises on the show. I'm very happy that the show doesn't follow the books word by word. Otherwise it would be to boring for me.
I like the Alcide of the show much better than the book-Alcide. The show Tara is more interesting than the book-Tara. And the show Russell is much more fun to watch than the boring book Russell. :-)
I guess I'm the other way then, several of the characters I like better in book form. Show Tara bugs me. I guess I understand why Show Russell is so evil and scary to help move the plot forward but I kind of liked how he is in the books. Really hoping they bring in Quinn for the show. Sookie seems to cry too much on TrueBlood for my taste, she seems a bit more strong in the books.

Personally I think that the "real" reason they didn't include Bubba was that the Presley estate (which has control of the rights to the images) wasn't willing OR they wanted too much money. But that's just my personal thought.In books, you can use him, because, well, it doesn't include the IMAGE. Or maybe CH paid royalties to do it. But I too love my Bubba.
