I'll be reading onward in the series. It worked well for me, the locations seemed very real, and the mixture of history and improvisation was quite plausible.
I am re-reading this trilogy as it has been many years since I read it last. I will be continuing on. It has held up well since I last read it. There are some small irritations like the intense detail given about some innovations, but generally speaking I enjoyed the first book and look forward to the second.
I'm almost done book 1 and I can honestly say there is no way I'm reading the next one. I'm struggling to get through this one. I started reading Stirling with his Terminator books and loved them. I moved onto Dies the Fire and loved that too. Now I'm a little older and the more Stirling books I read the less I like him. I was hoping this book would be different for me because it's one of his older books but it wasn't. I continue down the road of not enjoying Stirling's books.

I for one loved this book. I love history though so it was always going to have a bias but I think it was very well done and will definitely continue on next month.
