Erin I've read all this book that are out in The Mortal Instruments Series and The Infernal Devices series. Ive noticed that they metion names of the characters in the books like Mangus is in both series and The Last name Herondale is in both Series. (Is Jace Herondale or Wayland?)

When Jace is reading A Tale of Two Cities to Clary is says a little note from Will Herondale and Jace makes a comment that it is an ancestor or releative. Has anyone figured the connection between the characters out yet? If you have, Please SHARE!

Angela Jace is a Heronadale and I pretty sure he related to Will. I know he a Heronadale because Jace finally know who his real father is in City of Glass.

Read will's love letter to Tessa you'll find it interesting. Will wrote it on the first page of a tale of two cities copy, and in fact the same copy jace is reading from. If you go back and read that part in CoLS again you'll see that clary notices some faded writing signed 'with love at last, will herondale' that 'FADED WRITING' is will's love letter here is a link to the love letter:

It isn't related to your question but you might be interested. I guess it means it got passed down the family? Proving will is his ansector?

Jace IS related to Will

Well, Magnus is immortal, like Camille, so that they are in both series makes sense. Also, we aren't supposed to know yet whether Jace is a direct descendent of Will, but we do know that they are related. Remember that in CoG, we find out that his father is Stephen Herondale. Stephen William Herondale, to be exact. I personally believe that they are related, but that could just be me hoping. Also, Clary is indirectly related to Charlotte as both are Fairchilds (Fairchild is Charlotte's maiden name, which we found out in CP). Also, they both are short - Charlotte is described as being a "child-like" size, in fact. Woolsey Scott (the werewolf who is not immortal) is in fact the creator of the Praetor Lupus, and the ancestor of the man we meet who runs it in CoLS. The Starkweathers are Hodge's ancestor. Will mentioned an "Elise Penhallow" and her instrument at the London Institute Christmas party...so she is related to Aline Penhallow in CoG and CoLS. Etc. I think it is really cool that Ms. Clare put the ancestors of some of the characters from TMI in TID.

Also, that letter in A Tale of Two Cities was written by Will for Tessa (though we don't know how Valentine came to have possession of it), but only the last lines are still visible (so sad, because I would have been interested in Jace's response to reading it).

***Ms. Clare promised a family tree that connects all of the TID characters to their descendents in TMI which will be found in the back of CP2, so thankfully it all will be cleared up. Eventually.***

I can't wait to see the family tree. It's going to answer sooo many of our questions :)

Arianna Like Alexandra said Jace and Will are definitely related. The only question is if Jace is a direct descendant of Will or his sister? Cassandra Clare has not answered this for us just yet but says that she will in the next book/final book in The Mortal Instruments series. So I guess we will just have to twiddle our thumbs and draw our own conclusions until it's released.

Erin Wow thanks you guys! I Think I get it! Especially Alexandra! Thank You so Much!

I know! It's going to be incredibly hard when we get the book and at multiple points throughout the book, I'm sure, not to just flip to the end and look at who ends up with who. But we must resist :(

Rashika (is tired) i am pretty sure Jace is a direct descendant of Will Herondale.. :)

Catherine My hardback copy of Clockwork Princess included a family tree on the inside of the sleeve (or whatever that cover is called) that directly related the characters of The Infernal Devices to the characters of The Mortal Instruments and The Dark Artifices, including the Lightwoods, Emma Carstairs, and Jace Herondale. Jace is a direct descendant of Will.

SHINY (view spoiler)

He is. Wills sister married a lightwood so therefore would have to had Herondale babies because he was the only male. Jace is related to Will! I think that Alec and Izzy also have some Herondale blood because they look like the Herondales from The Infernal Devices and Wills sister married a Lightwood!

Nellie ☾ Based on the family tree on the CPrincess copy, Stephen Herondale (Jace's father) is Will's great great grandson.

anthea Wait, so that means technically Alec, Izzy + Max are actually related to Jace seeing as they all have Herondale blood, be it a lot or a little!

Right?

I think so, yeah :) since Alec, Izzy and Max is under Cecily's bloodline.
