Sharon Tillotson (storytellerauthor) | 1802 comments I feel like Sally Field, except it is hardly an Oscar. Just got my first 4-star rating for The Storyteller - here on Goodreads - from a reader!!

No review, but one does not expect that from readers. Just grateful someone took the time to rate.

I expect I can thank KDP Select for that...

Congratulations. Tell us about Sally Field. Was she the one in Absence of Malice (a much underrated movie) with Paul Newman?

Sharon Tillotson (storytellerauthor) | 1802 comments That was her all right. Good, but not her best role. A gifted actor, she has had an illustrious career but alas may be best known for her acceptance remarks upon winning a second Oscar for 'Places in the Heart'. (first was for 'Norma Rae', a movie based on a real-life factory worker and subsequent Union Organizer). She had worked very hard to shed her reputation as a lightweight after playing leads in 'Gidget' and 'The Singing Nun', so after winning for the second time gushed these immortal words (often misquoted - and misunderstood - it was from a line in Norma Rae): 'You like me, right now, you like me'.

Patricia (patriciasierra) | 2388 comments Ha. I never knew that was a line from the movie. I also didn't know the real quote; thought "you really like me" was part of it.

Congrats on your stars.

Yeah, she said (in reference to how it was hard to believe the first time she won, but now she couldn't deny), 'right now you like me'; then as the presenter of the same award the next year she parodied herself and said something like, 'let's see who you like, you really really like', and that somehow became what sticks in people's minds as what she said for her own acceptance.

It takes a good deal of expertise and sweaty application to fight a street myth, almost as much as creating one.

Odd how often the ones exerting themselves to fight a street myth are discovered on closer inspection to have created it themselves.

Patricia (patriciasierra) | 2388 comments You mean like that myth I spread about my being a really hot babe?
