Bleurgh!"I went through a phase where I'd get it twice a year regular, spring and autumn. Usually on the tail end of a cold. Horrible - absolutely hated it. But I found that gargling soluble aspirin really helps. Interesting thing, last time I got it I didn't bother with the doctor or the antibiotics (too busy), and it didn't take any longer to recover. That was 5 years ago, and I haven't had it again since.

Thanks Tim. Unfortunately I am on immunosuppressant drugs for Rheumatoid Arthritis. A low dose of chemotherapy for the rest of my life means that I catch all infections going and building up my immune system is not an option as my body then attacks all of my joints, making them hot and very painful. It's a bloody nuisance, but definitely preferable to the alternative!!!

I'm so sorry for missing the event, Steve! I've had a lot going on at the moment and didn't have time to attend. It looks like it went really well though!

I can't find my ski hat and it's too hot to go rummaging (or I would have put my ski hat photo up, Patti). I've made the draw by another means. I went through the thread and wrote the names down - in no particular order. Then I asked the man who's working on my shower room to pick a number between one and however many names there were. Then I counted down the list and arrived at the winner. I saved a piece of paper too, and consequently a little bit of the planet is safer for it. :o)
