Mistborn The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson was the first book our group has had as a monthly reading and discussion. It has been a great success with many reading and posting comments on this novel. Jeanne our Mod, also did a great job as discussion leader.

I have now been asked if the other two novels in the series will be read and discussed by our group. Rather than have a poll to find out the interest in this i rather have members feedback posted in this thread. If this does prove popular, the monthly readings of the Mistborn series would be in addition to our other monthly readings. As i note quite a few of our members seem to be able to read many novels a month (some even a novel a day!) having extra monthly readings could prove worthwhile. So post your thoughts and comments on this to show your interest.

Would you be interested in a monthly reading and discussion on The Well of Ascension and The Hero of Ages ?

Amy (amyhageman) JJ,
I think that for me, after this month, we could just leave the Mistborn thread open and continue to discuss the remaining books as we read them.
I read all three this month and will probably not read them again soon but would be interested in the continued discussion.

Jeanne (jeannekc) I'm just waiting for my copies of the next two books to arrive (I ordered them from Powell's last week) then as soon as I've finished reading the book I'm currently reading (A Song for Arbonne by Guy Gavriel Kay) I'll be reading them so I'm there!

Robert (bigbobbiek) I think it's a good idea. From the sound of it, many of those who haven't already intend to read the next two. If we leave the Mistborn thread open, and start new discussion topics headed by the book name/number, then everyone who likes to can continue to read and discuss at their own pace. No one who wanted to participate would need to worry about reading it in a certain time frame, which would be good.

And by heading each topic with the book name, those who have not read all three and want the suspense won't have to worry about us who have read them all ruining it for them :)

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments Well I'm all for that considering I'm almost done with The Well of Ascension and I'm going to be starting The Hero of Ages next.

message 6: by Next (new)

Next After I'm definitely up for this. I just recently finished book two and I am already 100 pages into book three. When I finished book I was bummed out that the most I could do was post a simplistic review. I needed to discuss the second book with somebody, nobody I know at my school has read them (which is funny because its an art school directed towards video game design and animation for movies) which makes this group my last ditch effort at discussion relief! :)

Robin (robinsullivan) | 629 comments I liked Mistborn enough to read the others and will. I think we could have these as picks in the future but probably not "right away" there are so many books out there we should spread our readings around a bit. - Just my opinion.

message 8: by Laurel (new)

Laurel I'm interested in keeping reading. I've bought both of the sequels and will begin reading them soon.

I will let Jeanne, our Monthly reading Mod decide on what she thinks is best, as she would be organizing any readings and discussions, that occur. With so many fantasy novels available for monthly readings it maybe best to just have the first book in a series as readings and then later just make threads on the other books in the series for discussions.

Jeanne (jeannekc) I've created 2 threads, one for each book and labeled it *SPOILERS* so folks who don't want to see spoilers can avoid the threads.
