The Who’s Your Author group is all about sharing great books and introducing authors to fellow group members.
Unfortunately this month in the AOM poll it seems there has been some self-promotion going on. In this case we believe many of the votes are a result of spam, thus the poll has been deleted and I used random.org to choose a winner for the August AOM.
The moderators would like to remind you that people who join this group solely to promote their books without engaging in any discussions are spamming. In the case of the August poll it was discovered most of the members who voted for this author joined this group on the same day the poll was created, and have not participated in any conversations, this makes me believe that they joined just to vote on the August AOM. We have no problem with promoting their books but to do so means you must be involved in our group and it must be done in the self promotion folder. People who are using dummy/fake accounts or spamming their own books in the thread will be deleted and the member will be banned from the group.
Spamming books is disingenuous and flat out rude. We want our members to tell other members about great books they have found. When group members are pushing books for sales it seems more like manipulation. The moderatos will continue to be diligent in removing sockpuppet reviews and spamming by community members.
This is a professional and well-written explanation of something that could have been difficult. I wish I could be that diplomatic. Really well handled.
