A few years ago, my aunt and mother introduced me to a woman the same age as me. Over time I found we had not just a lot in common in interests but that we thought alike, acted alike, almost as if we were sisters or the same person. I don't know how many people get either the blessing or the curse to look on someone else and see themselves. But with her I felt like that. In 2009 after she and I had our third children we decided to take a cruise January of 2010. Spending 8 full days alone with each other was fun and yet there were times I was ready to jump ship. LOL. But during that time I found my muse for Reflection.
For developing plot, etc. I kind of just sat down and started writing. I honestly wasn't sure where the story was going to go I just had an idea about the meeting of two characters. This was in 2010 after I came back from the cruise, but after writing a few chapters I put the book down. I didn't pick it up again until early 2011. The muse hit me again and I sat down to try to finish the story.
The plot actually ended up changing and by the time I finished chapter 1 was like chapter 12 or something. The story had taken a life of its own in the process of me writing it. There were times I sat back after letting my creativity flow through my fingers and look upon what I had written- I was in awe. As I was writing I took a class on Advanced Fiction writing and got some great insight and ended up switching things around even then as I learned.

Several author respond to their characters with strong emotions. What's your "relationship" with your characters?
If you'd have to describe Jessic..."
If I had to describe Jessica in one word I think that word would be Insecure. Because that's Jessica. She sees the world as if everyone were out to get her and that they all hate her. She's guilty of living in the past. But that's part of her journey.
My relationship to my characters? Hmm thats a tough one. I think that I can truly relate to Jesscia at some point in my life. She's your average girl with issues just like most of us. I haven't met a woman yet who likes everything about themselves. More times than not, its something that they grew up having others tease them about things. Some of us have no idea that we never let go of that hurt.
Mark, he's a real catch. He's the ideal guy. When I would write scenes he was in, I would smile. Mark makes a gal happy I guess.
Those are the two that I think I felt the strongest bond with.
What do I think personally about Jessica's journey? Let's see. I think that she struggles like we all do with our own issues. Its what makes her human. But through help of others offering her guidance she was never offered as a child or young adult, she will find her way. The message for her and for any woman, will help enrich their lives.
What would my advice be to women out there who feel they arent good enough? I would tell them to read my book and learn as Jessica learns. My book has a powerful message that I think some of us know but maybe we just dont want to accept.
Jessica was charmed by Mark, how can you not be. The guy is genuine, he is hot and he is down to earth. I loved writing his scenes. It was like he was talking to me sometimes. He's the guy I always dreamed I'd find.

Question: How long have you been writing?
Answer: To be honest all my life, just not consistently. I started writing as early as I could spell. And what really got me interested in writing novels was after I read my first one: Interview with a Vampire. While my friends were outside playing, I was sitting on my porch with my boombox. Yes I said it. Boombox, LOL, listening to my music and reading about the elusive world of Louis the vampire.
