It was Jessica, the new girl from California's Mom who thinks that. I think that it's easy for a parent to make that judgement who's not with the kids everyday and is judging from the outside. I was surprised that Jessica didn't react differently when her Mom said it. She does object, but the conversation ends too quickly and Jessica seems like she accepts it.
It actually bothered me what Jessica's mom had said. I don't think Mr. Terupt is to blame. It was a hard snowball, it's not like the kid threw a knife. Accidents are bound to happen. I've taken my students out for extra recess before and a game of kickball when they had earned it. If the student's kickball would have knocked me unconscious, does that mean it would have been my fault?
