Maya (mayaadorkable) | 200 comments Ok I have a question we already discussed this topic before but im just confused cuz a couple of people I know keep telling me different things and I refused now to believe a lot of people now.

here's my question can a Muslim man Marry a non Muslim who is Jew or Christian ? I asked a sheik and he told me they can and they don't have to convert .I still need to contact him again and tell him I want proof where it says that in the Quran . When I was in the middle east they taught us to use the Quran as a first resource then the Sunnah and hadiths but we have to be careful where we get the hadiths because some are false and inaccurate. then third resource I guess ask a muslim scholar or someone who is educated throughly.

So back to my question can they marry someone who is Jewish or christian ? Please take ur time answering this and when u do if you don't mind can you provide where you got your answer from like if it's an ayah from Quran let me know what surah and number . And hadith what book edition etc.

If the answer is yes it's ok . Can they still b married to them forever if their wife refuses to convert . I know it's wrong to force someone to convert .

What about Muslim women I know we can't buy why ?

Chris Booty (xfinalxliberationx) | 17 comments Why do so many Muslims pass by the suffering the family of our Prophet went through after his death? Why do Muslims turn a blind eye to how Muhammad's beloved grandson Hussain ibn Ali (peace be upon them) had his head cut off along the the heads of his brother, sons, and nephews, put on spears and paraded through Kufa and Damascus? How can Muslims who love the Prophet ignore how the neck he used to kiss out of love was severed for the sake of this dunya? (Peace be upon him and his family that suffered so much.)

message 22: by Jonathon (new)

Jonathon | 4 comments I believe that this answers the question posted re: marrying Christians or Jews:

“This day (all) the good things are allowed to you; and the food of those who have been given the Book is lawful for you and your food is lawful for them; and the chaste (women) from among the believing women and the CHASTE (WOMEN) from among those WHO HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE BOOK BEFORE YOU (are lawful for you); when you have given them their dowries, taking (them) in marriage, not fornicating nor taking them for paramours in secret; and whoever denies faith, his work indeed is of No account, and in the hereafter he shall be one of the losers.” (5:5)

Nobody's turning a blind eye to it.people pray for them but that doesnt mean they advertise this to the whole world,or go extremist like shi'as.many muslims suffered even worse deaths.look at the unjust assassination of Uthman(R.A.) for example.but the most we can do,even when it comes to the Prophet(S.A.W.S.),is pray for them.what are you trying to say over here?

message 24: by Ayesha (new)

Ayesha someone PLEASE answer this question for me, today is my birthday, and its saturday, 9th Muharram, for some reason that no one will care to tell me they say that they can't wish me, or give me a gift, and I can't cut my cake until monday. And I'm SO CONFUSED!!What does Muharram have to do with my birthday???I have no idea why...??

message 25: by Namerah (new)

Namerah Saud Fatmi (namerahsaudfatmi) | 85 comments First of all,we're not allowed to celebrate birthdays in Islam. On 9th and 10th muharram it is sunnah of the Prophet(S.A.W.S.) to fast in memory of some incidents that ocurred to Musa(A.S.).As you may know there is a segment of Muslims who call themselves Shia and think that we are supposed to fast because of what happened at karbala, but this is not true.

message 26: by Ayesha (new)

Ayesha okay, thanks

message 27: by Chris (new)

Chris Booty (xfinalxliberationx) | 17 comments The shia actually think that its haram to fast on Ashura. We believe that the hadith about our Prophet taking the idea of fasting from the Jews to be a fabrication, on the grounds that 3 of the narrators were not present in Medina at the time and the fourth was only 4 years old, also that our Prophet (as) didn't arrive in Medina in Muharram.

We mourn on Ashura and commemorate the grandsons of the Prophet (as) and the sahaba (ra) who were brutally killed on that day along with their women and children who were deprived of their hijab and paraded around with the heads of their men publically. This is a sunnah of our Prophet (as) and nothing new, for on the birth of Husayn (as) Jibrael (as) presented our Prophet (as) with the news of his martyrdom and he weeped. This is well documented. I can get you the hadith if you'd like.

message 28: by Chris (new)

Chris Booty (xfinalxliberationx) | 17 comments documented and I could provide you with the ahadith, if you'd like. Perhaps this thread is not the place to have a brotherly discussion about Islamic history.

Wa salaam

message 29: by Chris (new)

Chris Booty (xfinalxliberationx) | 17 comments Salaam,

You might want to check these ahadith in your own book to verify if they're there. You can check on many websites to search books of hadith online. It would be greatly appreciated if you would so kindly confirm their existence.

The Prophet (s.a.) said, "Allah will not punish people because of the tears they shed (over the dead) but He will punish (them) because of this." Pointing to his tongue.

(Sahih Bukhari Vol.7 Ch.24)

It is related from Anas bin Malik: The Prophet said, "Zaid took over the flag and was martyred. Then it was taken by Jafar who was martyred as well. Then Abdullah bin Rawaha took the flag but he too was martyred," and at that time the eyes of Allah’s Apostle were full of tears.

(Sahih Bukhari Volume 2, Hadith 338)

He (s.a.) also wept for Imam Husain (a.s.) on various occasions. For example, on the day Husain (a.s.) was born. And whenever the he (s.a.w.s.) prophesied the martyrdom of Imam Husain (a.s.). Zainab binte Jahash the wife of Prophet (s.a.w.s.) narrates: One day the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s) was in my house and Husain (a.s.) was also there. For some moments I forgot about him. He entered into the Prophet’s room. I tried to pick him up but the Messenger of Allah restrained me. Then he stood up to perform the prayers while holding Husain (a.s.) in his arms. When he went into ruku (bending in genuflection) or sajdah (prostration) he put down Husain (a.s.) and again took him in his arms when he stood up. Then he sat down and wept. When he finished his prayers I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Today I have seen you do something that I had never seen before."

He said, "Jibraeel came to me and informed me that this Husain (a.s.) will be killed by my ummat (people)."

(Mustadrakul Sahihain, 4:398)

At a salafi masjid I used to attend, I heard stories about sahaba who had been martyred. There was one specific case where Rasul Allah (as) was burying a martyr and he was crying so much over the grave that the other sahaba wished they were the dead man in the grave. This was from a shaykh that vehemently condemned what he called grave worship. You might know this hadith, better than I do.

message 30: by Maya (new)

Maya (mayaadorkable) | 200 comments One question I heard when a person dies you shouldn't let your tears roll down , so just wipe them. I'm not sure of the exact reason why but I've heard ( I've never confirmed if it was true) that it hurts or burns the dead person.

When a few years back a relative of mine passed away his brother was crying on top of him, all my male relatives literally had to drag him off and hold him together. Is it wrong to mourn, cry?

I get it were just going back to Allah but we are humans after all with emotions

message 32: by Maya (new)

Maya (mayaadorkable) | 200 comments ok i have another question. if someone is very very ill like almost about to die ill, is it haram to end their life. I know at hospitals they always give families or patients this option. does it depend on the persons illness? lets say cancer, or being brain dead.

message 33: by Chris (new)

Chris Booty (xfinalxliberationx) | 17 comments Mourning someone doesn't mean howling and making a show. It means remembering and respecting. When I was mourning our beloved Hussain, I never raised my voice, nor did any of the shi'a with me. But there were tears. I'd like to see ahadith to show that crying for someone is wrong, especially when our Prophet did it for his grandson.

With respect, I think saying that we can't compare ourselves to the Prophet is avoiding the fact that crying for the dead is sunnah. He cried for Hussain and he cried for other martyrs when they died. I'll try to find some sunni ahadith to back up my claims, inshaAllah.

(I'm also glad to be in a group that can maintain civil discource without using words of hate against our respected brothers and sisters from other schools of thought within Islam.)

message 34: by Maya (new)

Maya (mayaadorkable) | 200 comments Im glad about that too. I think it's important for us to discuss, whether some agree or disagree.

Hey, I'm a Muslim and I'm 14 and I like to write stories. I like to write about fantasy and things that don't exist and I like to write about romance (I don't write about things that are not suitable for my age, I don't write about sexual things) is this ok? Am I breaking any rules?

but(no offence at all),shias beat themselves up for it and go overboard about it.yes it was sad,but its been 1400 years.all you can do for any dead person is pray for them.its true that we shud mourn only for 3 days.but shias fast for it,beat themselves up,spend the whole muharram wearing no colored clothes etc.they even have their own kalma and different style of prayer.plus they say some really bad stuff about Abu Bakr(R.A.).i am not trying to rouse u or offend u and all these things i have seen myself.thats why i think there shudnt be any segments in Islam,we shud all be just Muslims with nothing "extra" to follow or believe.

message 38: by Maya (new)

Maya (mayaadorkable) | 200 comments I agree with nameerah. Why mourn after 1400+ years. Pray for them but not go over board. Death will come upon us all and we are going back to Allah. there are so many segments that it has become confusing.

message 39: by Namerah (new)

Namerah Saud Fatmi (namerahsaudfatmi) | 85 comments there is a hadith saying that before judgement day comes there will be 70 different segments of Islam, and only one will be correct.i just hope i die before any major signs like dajjal take place:/

Maya (mayaadorkable) | 200 comments I asked this before not here though.
When people convert to Islam why do other says they are reverts? I think I know he answer to this because I remember a Hadith saying we all are born as Muslims but grow up different ( EXCUSE my translation I know I got the Hadith wrong I know the Hadith but I forgot parts of it so just had to point I didn't translate it right )

Can some one please clarify my question ?
