Sunny (travellingsunny) | 3 comments I ran across an issue on the site, but I'm not sure how to fix it.

The Rule of Four, a book by Dustin Thomason, appears to be incorrectly combined with Crossings, a book by Danielle Steele. I can't determine the proper way to disconnect those, and I don't want to mess it up.

Can someone a bit more experienced with this type of issue please help me?

Cristian Marrero (cross36) | 55 comments Hi. I found the mistake. Under the 'Work Settings' of the book all of Steele's 'Crossings' are set with the information from 'The Rule of Four'.
I have to ask for assistance. Hopefully something simple can be done or all entries have to be adjusted.

Tntexas | 404 comments Yikes! I think I unintentionally made things worse. I used the separate tool on the combine/separate page to separate the Crossings books from the Rule of Four ones. The function appeared to be working correctly for a moment but then came back with a statement that "the status had been lost". A quick glance at the books that were then listed on the combine/separate page and a return to the page for The Rule of Four showed that the Crossings books were no longer attached.

Normally that would have straightened everything out, but a quick search for "Crossings Danielle Steel" brings up the entry for The Rule book and two entries where Crossings is part of a collection of Steel's stories. In other words, I have no idea what happened to all of the Crossings books I separated out. They seem to have just disappeared from the database.

I'm hoping the problem proves to be a simple matter of delayed caching, but I thought I'd mention what happened here in case it isn't. I'm so sorry if I've totally messed something up. I've used the separate tool before with no problems; I have no idea what happened this go around. I'll leave the problem alone from here on out, though, rather than risk making it worse.

vicki_girl | 2764 comments I separated out the Danielle Steel book and recombined it with the correct listing.

Not sure how it got incorrectly combined in the first place though. The log shows no changes to that record since 2008.

vicki_girl | 2764 comments Tntexas, I think we were working at the same time so you got some strange status messages. Everything looks okay to me though.

If you try searching on "Crossings Danielle Steel", "Rule of Four" will show up for a while, until the cache resets.

Sunny (travellingsunny) | 3 comments Thanks everyone for fixing this. Someday, I'll have to learn how to do that. Until then, I'll stick with the simple filling in details where missing. :)

PS - how often does the cache reset? It's been a couple of hours, and I'm still seeing Rule of Four when searching for Crossings.

Tntexas | 404 comments The Crossings books are showing up on a title search now (Yay!) But so is The Rule book, and I have no idea why. Hmmmmm. Maybe the cache refreshes a bit a time.

LOL! Talk about "perfect timing". I'm just glad I didn't accidently delete a whole set of books from the database.

I've seen it take up to 48 hrs.
