Lol. I've been collecting this author's books over the last couple of years, since she writes more American historical settings. This just landed and I was very surprised to see the description.

Forbidden Desire, Undying Love

Although beautiful and desirable, Blanche appears destined for a bleak, lovely existence. As the illicit half sister to Margaret of Anjou, the bride of Henry VI, King of England, she is suspended between the irreconcilable worlds of royalty and shameful illegitimacy. She gets a second chance at life when Margaret makes her a lady-in-waiting at Court - and a chance at love when she meets handsome, gallant Sir Charles Seintleger. But each is honor-bound to another: Charles to a woman he does not love; Blanche to her selfish, frightened sister. Unable to resist, they succumb to their all too urgent desires. After enjoying one precious moment of perfect rapture, they part, knowing they may never meet again.

During the bitter and tumultuous War of the Roses, fate sweeps them through years of political intrigue and personal tragedy, briefly reuniting them - only to dash their hopes for happiness and cruelly wrench them apart. The unforgettable story of star-crossed lovers whose passion for each other would not die.

I am curious. I have enjoyed most of this author's books. I'll probably have to send it on to Susan H. after I've had a chance to read it.

RE: Playboy Press. I've seen at least one Roberta Gellis published by them, and it wasn't a racy Playboy kind of a book at all.

Joanne Moyer (catwoman56) | 3 comments LOL - I have this book but it has a different cover. I read it many years ago and remember being surprised by it, I was expecting something a lot more 'cheesy' or a typical romance and it was not .

Thanks Joanne. I've read enough of JLB to expect more than cheesy, and I know better not to judge a book by its cover, but still...

Joanne Moyer (catwoman56) | 3 comments I think I have others by her too but can't think of them offhand --- I would never have thought of this one if it wasn't mentioned here ....

She had a bunch of older ones with no blurbs or covers and I can't stand that, so I've been collecting them. Some are more in the 3/3.5 star range, but her Guests of the Emperor is very good, although not a fluffy read by any means.

Joanne Moyer (catwoman56) | 3 comments I'll have to check to see what else I have of hers... unfortunately all that stuff is packed away in boxes

I'm on page 50. Not going well. I did just find this comment on her website,

"And two other historical novels I never admit to and would beg you to ritually burn if you find them. Sometimes newbie editors make a hash of book. Sometimes it's the writer who messes it up all by herself."

I'm fairly confident that this is one of those two books :p
