message 53: by Rue (new) - rated it 5 stars

Rue Yes, Peeta Mellark from the Hunger Games trilolgy! He is so sweet and just everything I like in a guy! :)

message 54: by LPR (new) - rated it 5 stars

LPR heck yes. I have a whole shelf dedicated to it. Here are a few.
Peeta (Hunger Games) Duh...
Gales (yes, i love them both)
Finnick (so I'm not that selective)
Prince Char (Ella enchanted)
Finn and Razo and Geric (But especially Finn)(books of bayern)
Luka (Dragon Slippers)
Brigan (Fire)
Peri (The Glass Swallow)
Percy Jackson. Duh.
Laurie (Little Women)
GILBERT BLYTHE (Anne of Green Gables)
And Walter Blythe (my awkward father and son crush)
Westley (Farm Boy)(As you wish)
FANG (heckya. maximum Ride)
And this is a short list. I'm really not that selective. I am just a sucker for Prince Charmings and guys who can swordfight. (Totally a fantasy novel girl)

Samantha The Escapist oh man Lauren, you're right the man in black was my first crush ever, but it was from the movie.

He still deserves a spot on my list however because when I finally read the book I was in love with him as ever :3

Laurie too, movie crush first, book crush later. Thanks for reminding me!

Megan Oh my gosh, who doesn't?
Mine:
Harry Potter(Harry Potter Series)
Peeta Mellark(Hunger Games Trilogy)
Gavriel Duval(His Fair Assassin Trilogy)
Percy Jackson(Percy Jackson and the Olympians)

Megan Oh come on,who doesn't?? Mine, in no particular order, are:
Harry Potter
Peeta Mellark
Gavriel Duval(His Fair Assassin Trilogy)
Percy Jackson
Cyrano de Bergerac
Bradwell(Pure Trilogy)
Dustfinger(Inkheart Trilogy)

message 58: by Paul (new) - rated it 4 stars

Paul Rosemeyer Yep. The Blue Fairy as pictured in a Disney book when I was 4 years old.

Aliyah I totally love
1. Jessse(mediator series)
2.Peeta ( Hunger Games)
3. Jacob (twilight)
4.Sam (Wolves of Mercy Creek )
In books people often have less flaws than in real life causing people to crush on their near perfect qualities. It's not our fault characters are so appealing.

mercy 1-PERCY JACKSON!
2-Draco Malfoy
3- Peter Pan
I have plenty book crushes.

Samantha The Escapist It seems like more people who've read Percy Jackson have a crush on him while with Harry Potter a lot of people choose a side character. Interesting.

Kressel Housman Totally. I had such a crush on Dumbledore. Too bad he's gay. But as a friend pointed out, he's no more available to me than he was before he was outted.

Ellie Yep, I'm in love with Jacob Black and Ron Weasely!!!

Kristen wrote: "Crushing on a fictional character helps you to see the sorts of qualities that you would want to find in a potential boyfriend/girlfriend. I know that sounds silly but if you think about it's true."

I agree. :)

Tania Mercy [The Narnian] wrote: "1-PERCY JACKSON!

haha i also crushed on peter pan ages ago

Kristen Hill Tizrah wrote"Sorry, this is off subject of discussion, but where on earth did the books say Dumbledore was gay? Did I miss something...?"

J.K. Rowling announced it very late either shortly before the last book was published or shortly after.

Samantha The Escapist Kristen wrote: "Tizrah wrote"Sorry, this is off subject of discussion, but where on earth did the books say Dumbledore was gay? Did I miss something...?"

It was about a year after the last was published but well before all the movies were done coming out. And I would really like to clarify that she didn't announce it, she answered a fan question. It was simply the first time someone asked it and in the aftermath she was forced to call a press conference to discuss it. Dumbledore being gay wasn't important to the story and so it wasn't included in the story. It was simply what she believed of the character while she wrote him. He was in love with Grindlewald.

Sorry to take the topic further off track but I hope this post is accurate enough to clear it up and that the main topic can continue unhindered :P Tizrah there is almost always a "Dumbledore is gay" topic available on one of the HP boards if you'd like to discuss it further :)

Edit: Oh no Tizrah I'm not commenting on YOU going off topic, I was apologizing for myself because I perpetuated the tangent when Kristen had already answered it! I was just afraid people would be mad at me for my long post since it wasn't necessary :P (in response to below)

Koleen Hansen Oh yes, I have crush on Edward Cullen from twilight Himura Kenshin from rurouni kenshin and Darien form sailor moon mako The Legend of Korra there is more I am not saying any more

Currer Jean Keep crushing. Never stop:) It is perfectly normal. You see how everyone treats Roochester and Darcy.

Brenda Of course.
1. Mr. Darcy (Pride and prejudice)
2. Sirius (Harry Potter)
3. Mr. Fogg (Around the World in Eighty Days)
And more.. :D

Catherine My sister read The Hunger Games, and would say (out loud) "DIE KATNISS!!!! I LOVE YOU PEETA!!!!!" only a tad strange...

Sparrowlicious I don't understand how someone could have a crush on a fictional character. As a matter of fact, I don't even experience 'love at first sight'. I'm the type of person who has to get to know someone before they start to even care about another person. (As far as I know, that's called 'demiromantic'.)
That's simply impossible with a fictional character.

So no, I never had a crush on a character from a book. I do get overly fascinated with some of them though. But that's the same fascination I have for plants.

Nikki I cant say I've had a crush on a single character but more like I've had a crush on character couples. (usually fan-fiction ones) like harry and draco (you know you've thought about it) :) Haha I lurv Harry potter books! :D

Rue Sparrowlicious wrote: "I don't understand how someone could have a crush on a fictional character. As a matter of fact, I don't even experience 'love at first sight'. I'm the type of person who has to get to know someone..."

you are boring! And i think falling in love with a character means being aweed or facinated by them.

Samantha The Escapist ^^ I don't think there is anything boring about having a strong sense of self :)

I don't believe in love at first sight either, and I certainly don't experience it. I obviously have a different love for my boyfriend than my superficial escapist crushes on book characters :P

haha

message 83: by Zoë (new) - added it

Zoë Well, I'm not sure I can call it crushing so much as falling in love with that character-but only while I'm reading the book. So yeah:
Young Prince Jonathan (Alanna series)
Percy Jackson (of course, he's so clueless!)
Murtagh (only in the last book)
Eragon (just a little)
Four/Tobias (I still think of him as Four)
And a few more...

By the way, didn't J. K. Rowlng announce that Dumbledore was gay when the movie people wanted to put in something about "Dumbledore's lost love"? It doesn't really matter, though. People have crushes on Alec, right?

Hannah colonel brandon from sense and sensebility
aragorn from lotr
prince andrei from war and peace.....

you are not alone .... i fall in love with fictional people all the time

Kyana Fisharefunny wrote: "Alexia -Team Malec :) wrote: "Oh, i have book-related crushes all the time. Here's my list (Don't think i'm weird):

THAT'S WHO I FORGOT! I knew i was missing someone.... when i made the list i thought of them, and i was like, i'm missing someone.... i just don't know who it is..... haha i don't think anyone gets my Leviathan joke....

Avani Draco Malfoy, Fred Weasley (WHY, why did he have to die?!), Neville (once he grew into himself a bit)...
Jace from the Mortal Instruments.
There are probably more. But I can't think of them right now.

message 89: by Rue (new) - rated it 5 stars
