Why is it a sin to kill a mockingbird?

I'd like you all to discuss not only why it is a sin to kill a mockingbird, but I'd like to to discuss who you think have been 'mockingbirds' in history; have people killed or hurt innocents who only wanted to 'make music' in our lives?

Don't forget to also comment on your classmates' ideas...

I think that is a sin to kill a mockingbird because they`re innocents animal, they don`t do anything that could affect us, they only sing and live in places where doesn`t bother to anybody. Also they`re beautiful and offer us an excellent view when they`re flying or just when they`re in some trees. Unfortunately there are people who kill mockingbirds or other kind of birds knowing that they don`t do nothing bad and that is sad because I think that they have the right to live or to be free as every kind of animals.
In our life, not only the animals are killing, there are some innocents people that are killing by bad persons maybe because they are talent or are famous.

In another case, when the thieves kill or hurt innocents people who works or doesn`t do nothing bad is a situation that much families pass by, and is too sad all that. I think that that people are like innocents mockingbirds that lose their life in hands of bad persons.

well, In my particular opinion , I think so, the mockingbird represented the children dreams,imagination their chilhoOd, they are very inocent, pure, only giving happines, playing ,when the adult people try to kill its was destroying the children HISTORY, or when they don't permit them realize that , they was killing the oportunity to enjoy it and to DO THAT, IN THIS case mickingbird is a element of the simbolization, maybe it can represent the people who works and try to survive , they don't ofended nobody and found someone who didn't have the same thinking, points of views,and they was authoritarian with them and that people who is going to leave their contribution to the society , no bother nobody, and received persecution, discrimination because they are poor or the was a member of a special religious group, that was destroying the melody whose letter and entonation was choose himself for the character and they interrupt that, it wasn't a contribution , that was difficult and they gave reject its to grow up and permit in easy form to die.

I first part . I agree with you , the people influence in the other lifes it can be very strong , because is very important your contribution it has a lot of force in some case can kill someone dream or affected them , but, I disagree with only bad people kill others mickingbirds according to their life what represent the mickinbirg, but in some case some people can kill the mickingbird indirectly, maybe they don't matter or they do inderectly for ex. reject or they don't give you the oportunity to your simbolic mickingbird grow up around them, lately they want to participe and in some case their help it to die in a wrong side and they can be help and leave it grow up free, because don't affected them and what is the necesity to you pay attention , if it doesn't affected your in a personal form leave it continuos! there!

To kill a mockingbird is a sin because they are living being too, like us, and does their roles in the world, we know that “killing” is bad, not only the animals, the persons too, but there are many ways to kill, for example: the hope, dreams of the people who get hopes up, for an objective, there are persons who tell him/her that is impossible, only give negatives advices, or treat bad the other, saying that you don´t have value or only lives to be miserable, and that is very sad…
In my opinion it reflects boo and he could be because I think he still alive, his history is sad, but many the people in the town with their comments kill his desire to enjoy the life, they criticize him, they only see the negative side, and don´t stop to think what he´s feeling, why he did that, etc…I think the children could get discover the mystery and help him….

To kill a mockingbird is ,in my opinion, a sin, because it is an innocent creature which makes the nature looks better and also our life or maybe it makes better only our day, but we don't have any reason to kill this bird...

I think to kill something or someone is always a sin, even if we have a reason or not...

I agree with you, I think the same… I also think that in the story boo Radley is like an innocent mockingbird who hasn’t a normal life maybe because his father doesn`t want or is bad… we don`t know. The people doesn`t know what really happened to him, they never think that maybe he`s suffering very much, that maybe he`s like a slave in his house… they only star to criticize him without knowing why he doesn`t go out of the house...
What happened to him??? I hope to know it soon-!!!!!

OK...To kill one mockingbird is how to kill one boy innocent because this bird or boy not do nothing but you kill maybe you not do direct but you help to die.
So is bad ,if the mockingbird not do to you nothing why you kill .
In other part why you kill only you know because only you live your life and not the person who review you and this person can understand you .
And in the history everyone can be are the mockingbird because everyone has the why act in so form, why Aunt Alexandra act so very strict because in his life she was treated so.I think every one act in good or bad maners because she or he only know this maners the life.

In my opinion it's a sin to kill a mockingbird because it’s an innocent animal, all that they do is to sing, and they have not done anything that can affect us.
Maybe some people kill the mockingbirds just for fun and others because they bother their singing. And that it’s sad because the people don’t kill just the birds, they also kill others animals. I think that animals have the right to live, because they are living beings like us. Nowadays the people committed crimes; some of them kill innocent people without any reason. I think anyone deserves to be killed, even if he or she is the worst person because we are human and we make mistakes.
I think Mockingbirds reflects people because the thieves kill people who work (and who does not) is something that happens in the day to day, and it is a sad reality that we are going passing because innocent people should not be paying for something they did not.

I think in the history show us the different personalities of the characters, each one have his/her way to see the life and situations, behind each person there is a history, it could have been good or bad, that reflect in the present, for example Aunt Alexandra is so, she wants to change Scout´s behave, maybe she has good intention to do something, but with her personality she´s getting the children´s hate, I think everybody can change for good, it´s depend of us.

Well, first. Why is to kill a mockingbird? It is says the mockingbird is who sings the mornings, the songs that make you feel good and happy. Then, a mockingbird represents the things or people that make you happy or simply, people who have good feelings and good heart. Hum, I think mockingbirds can be many people, for example; Atticus and Calpurnia, they showed they have a sincere feeling, they follow their own rules, don't act like others who don't value to the people of other classes or level.Can be also the black and poor ones, who have to live under the power of whites or rich... They can't live as a normal people, neither be respected for others because of their condition.There are people who are ambitious, the obsession of obtain more and more. So, they try to get it. They kill or hurt people who don't matter for them. I think those are who are making music for you, but a cruel music that you wouldn't like listening.

I think it is a sin to kill a mockingbird because it's just a bird which can't hurt us, or whatever we have, they just stay there and sing, I haven't heard it but I'm not willing to be against the nature beauty, I guess it is a beautiful singing.

Mockingbirds in history... Since we began reading those books we could see who were the mockingbirds because I think we have talked about them more than a year. In history we observe many kind of 'mockingbirds', but I'm going to name the ones that we had already read about: the Jews and Negroes.
They have been victims of great abuses, I compare them with those birds because the only thing they wanted was a free life, I suppose they just wished to follow their culture as normal people; just do what they need to,"make music" with their day-to-day activities, music for a pacific world.
Sadly, the shooter came to disturb terribly their lives, I guess they hadn't hurt to those who came toward them, those racists.

Obviously, there are more mockingbirds in history, but the only thing I wonder is if each victim of racism was a mockingbird, a person who doesn't bother anyone and takes her/his time to do what he/she needs to survive in this unfair world...

I didn't imagine it that kind, this idea is surprising for me. So, I agree.
The mockingbirds represent our "flying side" where we are floating in the wind crossing whatever to obtain what we want to, it demonstrates us that it doesn't matter what's on the road, the important thing is what's at the end of it.
The dreams, wishes, memories; all of those things are represented by the mockingbirds lives, there will be people who will want to make them fall down, some of them will do it, but anyway we'll continue, because when the darkness comes upon us it will never leave us...

I agree with your words, I think some people have pleasure to kill animals or people without reasons, this is psychological problem and has a solution, but If we(the big people) look at a child doing this (kill animals for fun) I think we should stop him/her and if we don't stop It means we agree with this action.

My mom always said me "To kill a mockingbird is a sin", especially she repit me that when I was child, so,like all children, I want to know more about, I used to ask why, so, she always answer me with a sweet voice, and explain me, that they are beautiful birds, that they only sing, and that make us happy all day, I growing up with that mentality, and now I understand better, I think that was an important thing that she taught me, because I don't want until today do something bad with this kind of animal, they only want to give us a happy day, and we sometimes don't pay attention at what they want to give us, because all day we are so busy, so, we don't look at the life, at the beautiful thing that the life give us.

So now, in the history I think the mockingbirds are black persons, especially, because they work a lot. We can say that they were people that gave more in Maycomb because they were who work hard, so, white people only look at the skin color, and they kill them although they are innocent, and also with their indifference, I think that they kill them like that too, so, black persons didn't do anything, they work a lot but when they want to claim their rights, they were punish, and not only in the past, until today, because the indifferences are so strong in our world, they only look at their skins, but not in what they can do, they are innocent, but they don't have right because the skin, so, exist a difference with a mockingbird here? I think not.

And I have to say that I agree with you, I think you caught the history in other way Raquel, I always look at them, and I forgot at all, because they make me happy, I want to hear when they are singing, not only mockingbirds, birds in general, but when I went to my aunt house, I forgot all problems, because you find a moment that you look at beautiful things, that you find yourself, sometimes we have to do that exercise, because the world are to busy and maybe we lose time, that we can't return.

Yes, and I have this idea in my mind,haha, that we maybe lose time, because we work hard all day, and we are busy all day, I know is to difficult go a day in a calm place, because we have action all day, but we have to know only a thing, that we are destroying ourself.
