For history buffs: Mavericks: An Incorrigible History of Alberta
For music lovers: The Long Trail
I found Beauty Tips from Moose Jaw: Travels in Search of Canada listed under Alberta, but it sounds like it could be used for Ontario and New Brunswick, too.

The Mad Trapper
One Native Life
The Garneau Block

Janice (jamasc) Books like Beauty Tips from Moose Jaw, which are cross Canada trips could go for any province. I guess it's listed under Alberta because the author is an Albertan.

I just wanted to clarify why this book is in this list, as it applies to several other provinces, too. Rudy Weibe (author) was born and raised in Saskatchewan (and it sounds really interesting on Wikipedia!), but his Alma Mater is U of Alberta, which is why he's here. Also, the RCMP chase lead through the Yukon and Northwest Territories, so I've put this book there, too.

Janice (jamasc) Thanks for that clarification GateGypsy. I think I'm going to start typing GG to shorten GateGypsy. I was wondering why it was listed under Alberta when it was set in the Yukon.

Maybe we can go back and edit our posts and put (setting) or (author) behind the title so people know why the book has been suggested.

Oh, and The Mad Trapper always makes me think of Charles Bronson who played the role in the movie.

GateGypsy | 126 comments I picked up a copy of Bow Grip today on the cheap, if anyone is interested in a booking for it, I can start a thread for it over in Book Sharing.

GateGypsy | 126 comments I'm on my mobile right now and without Internet for several days. Would someone be kind enough to link in "Sam's Last Cage" by David A. Poulsen? It's set at the Calgary Zoo ;-) I found a copy the other day, so this is another book that can be added to the book sharing list.

Last Sam's Cage GateGypsy, I think this is the book you were talking about. It's not an exact match, but it's the only one that showed up when I typed in Sam's Last Cage, and it has Poulsen listed as the author.

GateGypsy | 126 comments Thanks, Melissa! That's the one :-)

If we're going to list individual books marked as setting or author in the "Books set in...." or Ontario authors, maybe we can give a brief description of the book while we're at it, i.e., Such-and-such a book is set in Ottowa, Ontario, This author has lived in Quebec for the last thirty years, but grew up in Ireland, or If you like mysteries, you might be interested in the following books.
