'Adam and the Dinosaurs' Sounds like some old sixties rock band. Wonder what they would have sounded like?
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...Just goes to show I really will read most anything. LOL.
This is my review for:
Okay, this one might be old enough to be considered a classic, wouldn't know for sure. Here is my review of:

I'm not a huge Dean Koontz fan, and this is one I've not read. But even if I don't find a Koontz book "good" I know I can expect it to be "interesting."
Picked these up yesterday at the PX in our small book section.. lately they've been getting in some good reads. And the Mountains Echoed
Khaled Hosseini
And
The Grace of Kings
Ken Liu

True enough, I think that to date, this one and Lightning are the only two I have really enjoyed. He is a tad formulaic for my taste. Still have to take Barb's advice on books, she generally gets them right in my case 95% of the time. Lonesome Dove was a huge fail.
Hi, you guys! -- Long time, no see. I have been very busy.I would like to learn what you military people think of the following articles:

The Russians have their share of crazies too.

Good to see you back Lilo. As for the articles every nation has some interesting characters. This "scientist" is clearly mad as a box of frogs.
Thanks guys! You are right, Geevee. This so-called "scientist" is clearly mad as a box of frogs. The question remains: Might Putin also be mad as a box of frogs? (He likes to rattle his [nuclear] sable, doesn't he?)
What does worry me: We heard on TV, only a few days ago, that the U.S. have no bomb-tight defense system. They said that the existing system does not guard against every kind of missiles.
Do any of you know more about this subject?
P.S. We are still battling Murphy's Law. Once (or rather, if) our life gets back to what I consider "normal", I'll be more active again in this group. I have missed you all.

Can't comment on the US missile defence system Lilo, although some members may have a better view than me from other side of the Atlantic.
Just a quick question. Can anyone recommend an easily understood and good book on Strategy and Tactics? Thanks
That's a hard one Alex! Osprey (Elite series) do a whole range of WW2 tactics that cover a range of theatres and methods (armoured, infantry, etc). There are also these books:
Second World War Infantry Tactics: The European Theatre by Stephen Bull
Panzer Tactics: German Small-Unit Armor Tactics in World War II by Wolfgang Schneider
Tank Tactics: From Normandy to Lorraine by Roman Jarymowycz
Alex wrote: "Just a quick question. Can anyone recommend an easily understood and good book on Strategy and Tactics? Thanks"
That's a big question, Alex. You do mean WW II tactics? Ground, naval or air?
Thanks Aussie Rick for the suggestions. I will look up those books. To answer ManRay, strategy and tactics theory and practice rather than a specific war

Alex: Here are some ideas for "big picture" takes:
Principles of War by Carl von Clausewitz
The Age of Battles: The Quest for Decisive Warfare from Breitenfeld to Waterloo by Russell WeigleyNaval:
Principles of Maritime Strategy by Julian Corbett
Mahan on Naval Warfare by Alfred Thayer MahanAir:
The Command of the Air by Giulio Douhet
The Influence of Air Power Upon History by Walter BoyneGround:
The Art of War by Baron de Jomini
The Evolution of Weapons and Warfare by Trevor Dupuy
I'll happily endorse Manray9's recommendation of The Age of Battles: The Quest for Decisive Warfare from Breitenfeld to Waterloo by Russell Weigley, an excellent book.
I just started Carole K. Fink's Cold War: An International History. It is better than the Goodreads reviews indicate. Try the Amazon reviews for more balance.
I thought some might find this photo essay interesting Award winning photographs by Royal Navy Photographers

I'm off to Sydney for a few days of theatre, bookshops, cafes and relaxation. I'll leave the group in the capable hands of the assistant moderators. Make sure you guys don't break anything and I have a house sitter looking after the wine cellar and library so don't bother with any of your house raids while I'm away!

'Aussie Rick' wrote: "Just arrived in Sydney, made sure I brought along an extra large suitcase :)"Sure the suitcase is good, but does it have wheels, it can get tiresome lugging around a lot of books. LOL.
'Aussie Rick' wrote: " Make sure you guys don't break anything and I ha..."without GV, the breakin, i mean visiting team is short a key player.
Found that Google Street View actually goes inside Goulds!https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/G...
You can see the late, great, Bob Gould behind the counter too.
A booktrade contact of mine used to shudder at the place - not because of the mess, but because of the complete lack of fire protection in there. A right tinderbox.
Despite the mess, Bob seemed to know exactly what he had in stock whenever you asked!

I like Goulds!

So I really loved this book, so far it is the best read I have seen on the current state of politics in the US of A. More fun that I expected to.
