message 51: by Dvora (new)

Dvora (igyabc) | 634 comments "Aine" Moira bowed her head slightly down and to the side.

"Mother?" the word escaped his lips before he had time to stop. No, she can't be.

The woman smiled at Ionatan. "Yes my son. I am your mother. Come with me. We have plenty to discuss." She stretched out her right hand to him. He touched her and a familiar feeling came over him immedietly. He remembered her. But that is all. Nothing else seemed right.

"Its going to take time to remember everything. You have been gone for quite some time. Once you moved to Australia, we thought we would never see you again. But when word came to us that you found Chloe and married her, all traces of hope came back to us."

Jon was so overwhelmed with everything that had been happening he forgot all about Chloe. The panicked look on his face was obvious to his mother.

"Don't worry about Chloe, she'll be fine. There is no need to panic. I have much to tell you, please sit down." There was this beautiful rose color couch. It was so soft when Jon sat down, he felt as If he would fall asleep instantly. When his mother began speaking, flashes of his past started making its way into his mind. His childhood. The water. Colors that he has never seen before.

"Son, I do not have a lot of time to tell you everything right now. There are letters that you need to read. People you need to meet. Most important, for now, you must get to know Moira better. Please trust me. Here are the letters. I will inform those people immedietly to come and meet with you. Ask any questions you want."

Jon was so confused. He had no idea what was happening and no idea how to get back to Chloe. What did she mean when she said I must get to know Moira better. Jon's mind was racing with so many questions. He didn't know where to start, or who to trust.

There was a knock at the door.

OMG, Dvora! I love this! But, now I don't know what to write, missy! You're doing this on purpose to me, and I know it, you devious imp!!! And, don't you dare abandon us! What makes this piece so great is the cooperative effort. Think how cool it will be when we finish and we have one cohesive piece. It'll be so cool.

Awesome job, m'lady! :)

Ooh congrats Steph!!!! I love that feeling when the first draft is done and you can dive into the beta phase :) I promise your book is still near the top of my to read list, it's waiting on my Kindle, but Adele's just using it to help me get The Star Dwellers ready to publish :)

Stephanie Judice (stephaniejudice) Thank you, David! Well, I GUESS I'll forgive you for tending to Star Dwellers first. Ha, ha! Seriously though, I'd love to know what you think when you get the chance. :)

Stephanie Judice (stephaniejudice) So, I'm avoiding further lesson plans and thought a little creative distraction would help. Shall we continue with the story, my friends?

Ionaton's lovely mother led him into the great hall to meet the dignitaries from foreign seas, having waited far too long to greet their returned prince. The courtiers rippled in their wake--all but Moira and one other.

The amber-eyed merman stepped forward when they were finally alone. Moira continued to stare at the closed doors of the great hall.

"You know what you must do," he finally said, breaking the silence.

Moira shifted, gazing at him with a stony stare.

"Yes, Cormac. I know what is required of me. There is no need to tell me my place."

There was venom in her voice. Cormac stepped closer. Moira did not back away.

"The elders wonder," he said, lifting a lock of her copper hair and twining it loosely around his finger, "they wonder if you may have developed feelings for the prince. This would not do, Moira."

With staggering speed, she slapped his hand away.

"I repeat. Do NOT give me orders. You are NOT my master."

"I could be," he said, stepping further into her personal space.

Moira slapped him across the face. Hard. When she reached up again, he pinned her arm behind her back and pressed his body to hers. Grabbing her jaw to keep her still, he showed her the depth of his own feelings, kissing her till she was breathless. No other man would dare to do such a thing. When he finally pulled away from her lips, Moira was still and quiet. The ice had melted from her eyes.

"Remember this, Moira. Don't get attached to your little pet, the human."

"He's not human," she whispered, her senses still reeling.

"Half. And never having lived in our world, he might as well be whole."

He gripped her chin and tipped her face up to look him in those amber-colored eyes, like that of a hunting tiger.

"Just remember, he will NOT be our prince. And one day, I WILL be your master."

In a swift movement, he released her and left through the doors into the great hall to pretend to honor the returned prince. Moira tried not to fall to her knees and tried to grasp who she should be most faithful to--her family or her heart.

Tina (frogluv3r) | 458 comments WOW. That was great. Juicy and intense!

message 64: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Judice (stephaniejudice) Thank you, Tina! I think you can tell I have some pent-up anxiety from the first week of school down here. I needed a release. A good fictional slap across the face was just what I needed. LOL! :D

message 65: by Tina (new)

Tina (frogluv3r) | 458 comments LOL Great release. Hehe My boys go back in 2 weeks, less mess to deal with when I get home from work. :) My days off will actually be mine again. YAY!

message 66: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Judice (stephaniejudice) Yay! Excellent for you! Yes, mommy-free-time is a necessity. As a teacher, I have the same holidays as my kids which is a blessing, but sometimes a curse. You know what though, if I focus, I can totally write at least 30 minutes a day during my lunch hour. That was my worst fear heading back to school, having no time or energy for writing. :( I'll make it work though.
