Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments its still random for me on both my laptop and tablet

message 52: by Maureen (Mews) (last edited Jul 13, 2012 02:41PM) (new)

Maureen (Mews) (mews) | 711 comments Both links always take me to the same one, which is Janets I think. I am using a PC.

ETA: I've tried logging off and then back on Goodreads and closing down and opening a new internet page, but it still takes me to the same blog.

message 53: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments I am in iPad and always get Karens :-)

At least I'm getting plenty of visitors ;)

Yes, she is a lovely dog!

I got lots of hits last night...er, I mean my blog did. Thanks, Simon.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I've had stu,Janet, Phil, Darren, ignite, Darren,

Weyhey!

message 57: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I'm getting randomness too - Shaun and Ruby this morning.

message 58: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments Getting only Philip today

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments Will go and read the randomising code in a minute... might need another cup of tea first.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Emma (Emz) wrote: "Getting only Philip today"

He must have switched off the invisibility then!

message 61: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments I get a different blog on different devices (iPad, Mac, PC, phone...) but always the same blog on that device

message 62: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I think he unscrewed then dropped the throggle nut.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments I had to click 8 times before I was taken to a duplicate site, seems to work fine for me ( that's on my android tablet, haven't tried it on mac or pc yet)

message 64: by Katie (new)

Katie Stewart (katiewstewart) | 817 comments I get J.S without fail.

message 65: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments Getting DD now :-)

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Just tried it on my coal-fired Linux notebook, and got no duplication at all. Eventually had so many tabs open that the ancient version of Firefox could no longer cope and crashed

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments Can someone who was getting the same site every time have another go for me. I have adjusted the dilitheum crystals so that they are in line with the mousetrap

message 68: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments Nope. Mousetrap still not disengaging. Just makes a sort of descending "wub wub wub" noise.

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments Oops. Broke it for a moment there. Need to find a new elastic band.....

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments OK, is anyone there who can try again...

Here is the link again

Abracadabra take me to a random group web site!

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Still working great for me Simon

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments It works for me too which is annoying....

message 73: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments Nope. Same elastic band here

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Getting this on the mac

Insecure $ENV{PATH} while running with -T switch at ./rand.pl line 46.

all greek to me

message 75: by Karen (new)

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments It's ok for me - got Ignite's lovely blog then Ian's.

message 76: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments Sorry Simon, DD's everytime.... Will clear my cache and try again maybe... Is it a prob at our end do you think?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Its been working perfectly for me every time I've tried it, on whatever device and browser...

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments Rosemary wrote: "Getting this on the mac

Thanks Rosemary, I have been breaking it while I try to fix it.

Bacally (and seriously), it seems that my random number generator is not working on everyones computers. It uses a pseudo random number generator (list really) and needs to be able to seed it. I need to find something to seed it with or else implement a real random number generator (which I would rather not do).

message 79: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments it is weird. i have just tried it on my laptop and i get a different blog than on my ipad but i still get the same one each time on here too!! Ian this time :-)

message 80: by Maureen (Mews) (new)

Maureen (Mews) (mews) | 711 comments Still taking me to Janets everytime.

message 81: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments In case it has anything to do with the browser, I'm using Chrome and Safari. Result's the same either way though.

message 82: by Joo (new)

Joo (jooo) | 1351 comments I get taken to Vernon's every time.

message 83: by J.S. (new)

J.S. Egan (jsegan) | 104 comments Simon: you might want to check in your server logs that you are actually getting a 'hit' when they click. (I strongly suspect that you are not - the redirect instruction is being cached somewhere, either by the browser or by the ISP.)

It is really, really, really unlikely to be a problem with your random number code - SELECT IS NOT BROKEN!

message 84: by D.D. Chant (new)

D.D. Chant (DDChant) | 7663 comments Yay! I'm getting random blogs now!!!

message 85: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments Nope. Vernon's every time.

message 86: by Joo (new)

Joo (jooo) | 1351 comments Then I clicked on the random button on each and had Beverley > Sadie > Phil > Vernon
I did it again later and had the same and it goes round and round.

message 87: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments Joo The Grand Inquisitor wrote: "Then I clicked on the random button on each and had Beverley > Sadie > Phil > Vernon

I get the same - the 'in-blog' random link just gives me six blogs over and over.

message 88: by Joo (new)

Joo (jooo) | 1351 comments And I went from me, clicking random on everyones and got to Shaun > JS > Sadie > Phil > Vernon > Beverley

message 89: by Joo (new)

Joo (jooo) | 1351 comments Some more click-ons were:

Cornelius > Stu > Ian > Cornelius > Stu (a very small ring that one)

Karen > Kate > GR > Vernon > Beverley

Does anyone else have un-random randoms?

message 90: by Philip (new)

Not so that you would notice ;-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Was that Philip - could have sworn I saw him for a moment...

That's the best way to see me.

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments My provider (virginmedia) is using Perl 4.x

I really need to find someone who has a half decent service.....

Spent hours looking at it this afternoon.

Will come back to it later. A big yellow ball has just appeared in the sky.

R.J. Askew (rjaskew) | 855 comments Hmmm, Cornelius and something about a cucumber?

message 95: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments He's usually too shy to mention it!

message 96: by Vic (new)

Vic Heaney (vic_heaney) | 689 comments I just checked mine out. Sampled about 20 times. I seem to have complete randomness. Or is it randomosity Ignite?

Jay-me (Janet) | 3784 comments Still getting Katie every time.

message 98: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Randomaceousness? Let's have our own word for it!
