Anita (anitanodiva) | 1619 comments Cruisin' For A SEAL is #5 in the series and has been released. I've read two, both out of order, and they stand up well as standalones.

Janeiowa | 5009 comments Hold Me Hold Me (Fool's Gold, #16) by Susan Mallery is one I've just borrowed from the digital collection at my library.

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments Thanks Anita. I will look for it/them. If you get a chance read American Sniper. WOW. I am not for war, but Chris really made me see why we were there. It is funny, tender, and all around a kick ass book.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 1619 comments My son-in-law actually read American Sniper and it is rare for him to read anything. He loved it.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 1619 comments I am currently reading Covert Evidence (Evidence, #5) by Rachel Grant by Rachel Grant. It is an amazing romantic-suspense/espionage-thriller. It should appeal to the lovers of Linda Howard. Rachel Grant is a new author who gets it right.

message 1007: by Dee (new)

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments I am starting to read Everything Burns by Vincent Zandri . I borrowed it from the library months ago and just kept renewing it without reading it. I just started and I am about 100+ pages into it and I have to say it is pretty good.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 1619 comments I finished Rainwater by Sandra Brown by Sandra Brown is was quite a departure from her normal romantic-suspense.

As a ARC, I just finished The Catspaw Collection (Catspaw I and Catspaw II) by Anne Stuart by Anne Stuart. Two older books packaged together.

My Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments I love your reviews Anita. Yours is one I look for before I read a book.

message 1012: by Nancy (new)

Nancy | 69 comments Just finished Consumed by Fire. Gave it 3 stars; love James but not Evangeline. Too much distraction from their love story with all the info dump about Evangeline's relations with other men.

Probably my least favourite book by one of my favourite authors *sigh*

message 1013: by Anita (new)

Anita (anitanodiva) | 1619 comments I liked Consumed by Fire but I really didn't care for the The Catspaw Collection I just finished. It was dry, no real passion or suspense.

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments I got American Wife: Love, War, Faith, and Renewal American Wife Love, War, Faith, and Renewal by Taya Kyle . I know I was suppose to start on our BOM, but I just had to read this one first. Like American Sniper it was funny, loving, sad and probably one of the best books I have read this year (right along side of American Sniper). One thing in A.S. he talks about going to a funeral of a Seal and running into someone who was famous. He called him Scruff Face. Taya, Chris Kyle's wife, says it was Jesse Ventura. Jesse ended up suing Chris, then Taya-because she was executor of his estate for 1.8 million dollars. I am guessing because Chris wasn't there to fight the case Jesse won. He stated that scene didn't happen. I really have a very low opinion of a person that sued Taya after all she had to go through.

CD {Boulder Blvd} (boulderblvd) | 1047 comments I had started reading Running Blind (One-Eyed Jacks, #3) by Cindy Gerard , but after a good staring scene became less than enamored with the story and when the "smart" heroine does a dumb blonde maneuver, I switched to The Liar by Nora Roberts which I just finished. Now I need to decide whether I go back Gerard's Running Blind or begin one of the many "books in waiting".

Anita (anitanodiva) | 1619 comments I was fortunate to receive Wicked Charms (Lizzy & Diesel, #3) by Janet Evanovich by my favorite author, Janet Evanovich. It has my favorite formula: Mystery, Romance and Humor.

Nancy (gr-nancy-a) | 799 comments Jane~i quite liked the hero, Max. But the book moved too slowly for me. Rated it at 3.5 stars. She kept my attention enough that I didn't skip much. I will read another by her.
It's always interesting to hear about the books you are reading. Love your input! :)

message 1020: by Janeiowa (last edited Jun 13, 2015 07:37PM) (new)

Janeiowa | 5009 comments I liked Max, too. It was pleasant to read about a character who was not the same as every other male character in a romance book.

I've just found a new-to-me series by Jane Porter. I find the titles cheesy but I,m really enjoying the Sheenan Brothers. I just finished the third one and am about to start #4.The Kidnapped Christmas Bride The Kidnapped Christmas Bride (Taming of the Sheenans, #3) by Jane Porter

I haven't read any of her books previously but so far I'm being pulled into her story. I have found so many new authors by being here on Goodreads!

Anita (anitanodiva) | 1619 comments Just finished Suddenly One Summer by Julie James . It wasn't as good as previous books.

My Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

message 1025: by Janeiowa (new)

Janeiowa | 5009 comments I'm in that "not as good as others in the series" cycle myself. I read The Airman's E-Mail Order Bride The Airman's E-Mail Order Bride (The Heroes of Chance Creek, #5) by Cora Seton

The premise of the whole series is, I think, bordering on the unrealistic, and the books titles are beyond cheesy, but the first ones were enjoyable. This one simply was beyond my ability to suspend common sense.

Do others find this happens with some authors and/or series? The authors run out of good plot lines before they run out of books to write, so they keep on writing. The results are meh or worse.

Janeiowa | 5009 comments I'm an admirer of Elisabeth Barrett's works. She is an excellent writer and her Grayson brothers in her Star Harbor series was wonderful. Blaze of Winter (Star Harbor #2) by Elisabeth Barrett Deep Autumn Heat (Star Harbor, #1) by Elisabeth Barrett Long Simmering Spring (Star Harbor, #3) by Elisabeth Barrett Slow Summer Burn (Star Harbor #4) by Elisabeth Barrett

She now has a new series called Briarwood, and I'm deep into
Once and Again Once and Again (Return to Briarwood, #1) by Elisabeth Barrett

I don't know if others who love contemporary romance know of this writer, but she's a rare talent in a field too populated by wannabe writers who don't edit or proofread.
