I found out John Grey's lover at Culloden was Hector, and Percy made his appearance in the first Lord John novella. I have not read that book. I now have the book and will try to find to read it, but right now I am bogged down with reading.

Kathy Anne (kathyanne) | 598 comments Dee,Boy I really did not like that first book and have read a lot of people feel the same,I hope you got it at your library.

message 903: by Dee (new)

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments Definitely! I tried one time to read it, but it bored me and I never finished. I know I read Scottish Prisoner and it seemed like it was a stand alone, not part of the Lord John series, and it took me a week to listen to it.

Janeiowa | 5009 comments I've been in a culling out the dregs in my TBR pile on my IPAD. I'd downloaded a lot of free and .99 or $1.99 books. I've found some real winners for me this way... Chris Keniston, Virginia Kantra, Rosalind James-----and some people who need to take a basic English grammar course and a class in writing and editing.

What ARE some of these "authors" thinking??

message 905: by Dee (new)

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments I am almost finished with Echo to the Bone An Echo in the Bone (Outlander, #7) by Diana Gabaldon .

Written in My Own Heart's Blood (Outlander, #8) by Diana Gabaldon

I had tried to read it before, but since I hadn't reread the past books I had in more than 4 years I was lost so I never finished it.

message 912: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (gr-nancy-a) | 799 comments Yea Dee! I want to do that some day. That is a great series.
Another series (Butch Karp/Marlene Ciampi) by Tannenbaum is one I want to re-read chronologically.
And Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan series comes to mind.

message 913: by Anita (new)

Anita (anitanodiva) | 1619 comments I read Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan series all out of order, but the books are sol long and intense I don't think I'll ever do a reread. I just finished Loose Ends (Steele Street, #11) by Tara Janzen by Tara Janzen it is the last book in the Steele Street series and I highly recommend this series. Fast paced action, sexy, hot heroes. Wonderful stuff.

Although I read the Outlander series in order I thought because the stories were so long I thought I would never do a reread. I think I have read Outlander 5 times and the rest twice. By the way, I found out that the 20th anniversary edition is an abridged version of Outlander. It loses about 300-400 pages. I never write the publishing company, but this time I did. I felt that they should know I was so disappointed I took the book back and will look for a used copy of it. I was really disappointed.

Kathy Anne (kathyanne) | 598 comments Serenity,Alone just came today, took a long time I think-anyway I just got started reading it and got a call from a sick coworker so I went over to help her.I liked the first part(all of paragraph one but this prison guy scared the heck out of me-and his little bro has so much going for him I wish he`d just tell him to go to he$$ and let him rot in there.ButI do remember he told him he`d get him out Friday, this will be interesting. For sure it caught my interest,I`m usually not that good at remembering only a few pages of a plot,I relly think this is going to be a very good read Serenity.

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments Trying to finish Mr. Perfect. I have been super busy and when I find time to read I manage to read only a couple of chapters before I fall asleep.

message 922: by Serenity (new)

Serenity Finlay | 35 comments Dee, I feel you - it's been that way with me lately. I've been so busy that I'm always tired going to bed - where I usually ready - and I end up going to sleep without going far in my books :(
But, Mr. Perfect is really intense and pretty soon, once it catches up pace, not sleep nor anything else could keep you from reading it through to the end!

Thank you for that Serenity (BTW, I love your name). I have noticed that this year for some reason I am reading so much slower than I usually read. I typically read a book a day, but this year I am finding it takes me three or four days to read the same size book. I guess I am slowing down in my old age, or maybe I am reading every line instead of skimming. Yeah I like that answer...that is my story and I am sticking to it.

Anyway, how can I get a copy of your book, Serenity?

message 924: by Serenity (new)

Serenity Finlay | 35 comments Dee, thank you!
I can relate once again to the reading this year being slow. Until mid last year I was studying and you'd think with all the technical and scientific literature I had to read and the many things I had to keep in my mind reading novels was difficult. But on the contrary, it gave me some much-needed relaxation. This year, on the other hand, I've finally finished my studies and am working and I dont have time to read half as much books as I used to read before! But I like your perspective - we are reading every line and between the lines and absorbing every little detail. That's why it takes longer ;)

You can get my book at:

http://www.amazon.com/Alone-Youre-Not...

Thank you for asking! I hope you enjoy it. Let me know! :)

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments My mom has my kindle and until I get it back I can't download it.

message 927: by Kathy Anne (new)

Kathy Anne (kathyanne) | 598 comments Wow I am glad I am not the only one who has slowed down,I have actually fallen to sleep at this comp. after work. I told my Mom that my Dad is working me way too hard but she doesn`t stop him like she did when I was a kid.
Never fails, I start to read and when I wake up the book is always on the floor where it fell when I drifted off.

message 928: by Serenity (new)

Serenity Finlay | 35 comments Dee, the paperback version is also available if you want! :)
Or if you'd rather wait for your kindle to be returned, then you can get the kindle version when you get it back.

Kathy, it sucks when you're too tired to read doesn't it ? Because you know that if you could only manage to read a good book, then you'd feel so much better and more relaxed!

message 929: by Dee (new)

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments Serenity, I will look for the paperback version. The book sounds so good.

Last night, I went to see Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella. It was a Broadway play in Phoenix, Fran Dresser played the wicked stepmother. I loved the version that was the movie. My granddaughter and I would watch it every time I would babysit her. I would pick her up and we would dance the waltz with the people. I haven't seen or heard from her in 10 years. I wonder if she remembers. Anyway, I am not sure I liked the play. They added a scene where the people were having their land taken away from them, and they also added a scene where Prince Ropher (Christopher) had a banquet after the ball in order to find Cinderella. The second time he saw her instead of losing her shoe she gave it to him. Otherwise I loved the play. I am guessing they added they those scene in order to make the play longer.

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments After stuffing myself and the restaurant we went to I came home and started reading Tall, Dark and Deadly (Tall, Dark and Dangerous #9-10) by Suzanne Brockmann I think I read one chapter and then lights out.

message 931: by Serenity (new)

Serenity Finlay | 35 comments Dee, I hope you enjoy Alone... You're Not.

After your long evening, I'm not surprised you fell asleep so fast ;) So don't blame yourself too much - take it easy, and you'd probably go further tonight :)

message 932: by Dee (new)

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments Thanks, we, 3 of my friends and I, have season tickets to see Broadway plays. In the last several years that we have been going to the plays has been really a lot of fun.

How interesting. I was also watching Cinderella but this was Disney's movie version of Cinderella.
I was watching it with my niece and nephew and we were all enjoying it very much. Everything about the film was spectacular, to the costumes, music and the performances. Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter and Lily James portrayed their roles amazingly.

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments I am reading Tall, Dark and Deadly (Tall, Dark and Dangerous #9-10) by Suzanne Brockmann . Actually, this is the final book in the Tall, Dark, and __ books by her. In the last couple of weeks I have read them all. Then my friend found me

Viper Game (GhostWalkers, #11) by Christine Feehan at Habitat for Humanity resale shop. She bought it for a quarter. She knows I love Christine Feehan.

Now You See Him by Anne Stuart was a great book, a bit dated.

i just reserved it at the library. It sounds really good. I look at these dated books as historical fiction. I know at the time they were written they were contemporary, but that is the nice thing about time. You also know the historical part is accurate.

Kathy Anne (kathyanne) | 598 comments A Sudden Light-Garth Stein

I just finished and still can`t do a review on GR so I`ll do a quicky here.I made a big mistake with not noticing the authors name, obviously a male and not really my cuppa, they just don`t seem to have much emotions in their stories= dull to me.
It had my fav ghost story plot in a big old house but I found the supreme destroyer for profits of the ancestors especially since the give away was ghost and 14 y.o. driven of the NW forests vs the supreme enviormentalism of giving away every last penny the family had dumb
I`d only give this book a 3* because it bored me but the plot was pretty good and maybe guys would like it.

I just got it and have only read the first 4 or 5 pages and did like it tho it didn`t really tell me anything.I do love SB tho she is my second fav author after LH,it would probably be a dead heat if she would add a little more romance.

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments I picked up Taken By Her Greek Boss Taken By Her Greek Boss by Cathy Williams at the library book sale. I think I might have spent 10cents. This is a Harlequin Romance and I think there is only about 180 pages and is it cute. It has a lot of really funny parts to the book. If you can find the book, I highly recommend it. Fun, easy read.

message 948: by Anita (new)

Anita (anitanodiva) | 1619 comments I used to be such a snob that I wouldn't be caught dead reading a Harlequin book. Now, I love them for their short length and the authors are really good, for the most part. My favorite Harlequin author is B.J. Daniels.

message 949: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (gr-nancy-a) | 799 comments Yep. I never quit Harlequin though I have gone to other series they are publishing. The length is nice & there are enough good authors to make it a worthwhile read. Karen Templeton is one of my favorites.
