What Are You Reading Now?

I've found some really good authors lately, and I've found a couple others rave about who have left me cold. That's why I included authors I do like, hoping someone else was familiar with those and could tell me if Lowell would fit in that writing style.
Reading two at the moment....the COWBOY OF VALENTINE VALLEY, I mentioned earlier and a new-to-me author

(I feel the same way about Kristen Ashley...so many here rave about her, and the two I tried I could not finish. )

I am reading a new author...well new to me. Shannon Stacey

The one thing I DO NOT LIKE is that two women did not want children. In one, not a main character, the woman told the man she wanted them, but after 10 years of marriage, when he pinned her down she said absolutely not. They get divorced. In another case the woman is 34 and after having a 16 year old son, by another man she refuses to have any more kids. To me, and maybe I am old fashioned (Yuck, I am old) I think having kids is a wonderful blessing. That is if you are stable and mature enough to be a decent parent.

Nice to find a reading group that I can so relate to/ identify with ( sorry 4 the poor grammar)..So many good books & so little time to read! :(

How was it Anita?

What do you think of the book Dee? Am thinking I might try it if it is decent. I'm currently reading The Last Hour of Gann. It is a sci fi thriller with romance I think. Only 10% in; the writing and world building is very good. The H is an alien - a humanoid with lizard features, and from the reviews, the book get quite dark midway through the book.
Will update when I'm finished.

I am about 10% into the

I'm adding this author to my list to check out her other works. I like finding new authors outside the standard author names we all know.

It is so not in the Janet Evanovich style. No humor, witty dialogue or screwball heroine. It is an OK story, but I expected something totally different for an historical by Janet Evanovich.

Rogue navy seal, Ian Dunn was put in prison. Along come the FBI and offer him a get out and stay out of jail free card if he helps them retrieve two kidnapped kids that a terrorist has. These kids are children of a nuclear scientist and Kazbekistani warlord. The FBI is afraid that if the wife is forced back to Kazbekistan she will be forced to make a nuclear bomb for the country, and then they will kill her. But Dunn wants to stay in prison. It is imperative that he stays there. Of course, the FBI force him out. Without giving everything away, the first half of the book is Dunn trying to fix the damage that was done when he got ejected out of prison. The second part of the book was retrieving the kidnapped children. I had a such a hard time putting the book down that I would read until my eyes blurred. Then I would put the book down and wait until they would unblur and start back up. I cannot wait until the next installment comes out.

That is interesting. What was it the made it hard to get into, Wendy?

And if that isn`t bad enough I have never gotten past the the part in Dream Man where I saw what a jerk the so called Hero is.
I guess I really missed out on some LH genes on these books.

I did not get the KA gene, though, or some authors that other readers here enjoy so much.
I do love seeing new-to-me authors and titles listed here. I've also found some amazing ones via the Book Gorilla and Book Bub for free or very little $$. I don't mind the $$ when the author is good; I gnash my teeth when the writing is poor and the story rambling or full of holes.

Of course, certain authors are not in the library, those I will look for in a used books store, or wait until Amazon has them on sale for cheap.

I didn't know Karen had a new one out Dee. This is exciting news! Have you finished it yet? I hope it's good.

Apparently, she came out with it last Dec 13. I just started it, then had to put it down to finish another book from another book club. Should restart on it today.

OMG is that book good!!! When I heard what Bella called Summerset I laughed until I cried.
