Having been a middle school librarian for many years, I've read many middle aged books. This book was easy to get interested in; it was extremely well written. The central character was a typical middle schooler, full of conflicting emotions, every thing is THE END OF THE WORLD, wanting to be perfect and being mortified if she wasn't. Mickey knows what she wants to be when she grows up--a hair dresser like her mother; she is passionate about and ultra sensitive about her future career. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Kudos to the author!!
