Kelly (RandomKell) | 14 comments Hi everyone,
I am looking for a heap of books to add to my TBR list.....
I like books set in the time period before the 1950's and books set during war time.....
I love that show 'Downton Abbey' and would enjoy reading books like that also....

Does anyone know any books like this they could reccomend to me???

Kerry Greenwood is an Aussie author Kelly, and her books are set back then..her first one Cocaine Blues is in the 1920's. Not sure if you are after this sort of book, but they're very popular:) The series starts with this book!

Also, use Michael's link, as there will be a lot there too:)

Shelleyrae at Book'd Out | 148 comments I just finished Waratah House by Ann Whitehead, a new release, which is set in the late 1800's in Australia among the servants of a mansion.

Waratah House by Ann Whitehead

The same author also has Australia Street set in the 1940's in inner city Sydney

Zino (goodreadscomuser_zino) pre 1950's
I only really read YA so if you like that genre I suggest
Bright Young Things set during the 20's and part of a series
Fallen Grace set during the Victorian era
The Luxe This is part of a series, set in 1899
If you want to go further back, Mary Hooper does heaps of historical fiction and so does Philippa Gregory I think she's a mix of YA and adult

Things during the war
The Book Thief, a lot of people love this one
The Diary of a Young Girl, Anne Franks diary
Leviathan, part of a series and it's YA

Hope that was helpful :)

Was a great read!"

I've got that down as one of my August reads for the Aussie Author challenge Tamara! Good to hear it's good... can you put it into this thread too, if you don't mind? http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/5...

I'm going to close this thread, as we have another one doing the same thing, and it has LOTS of recommendations in it;)

To get there, just click on http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/5... and watch your TBR list grow!!
