Angelique When I finished reading the Hunger Games trilogy, I was so unsatisfied with the ending. It just felt wrong. So I wrote my own preferred ending :)

For those of you who would have preferred a more warmer ending and with her choosing Gale... here's one last chapter for you to read :)

My alternative ending to Mockingjay is called Chapter 28 following Chapter 27 after the first paragraph of page 452 (the second last page)

Warning: this is a team Gale ending, it may not go down too well with Peeta fans.

Eitherway, I hope you enjoy it, and I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on it... Cheers :)

B.L. Jones Not bad, it was definately less depressing, wish you'd done the sort of 10 years later thing though to see how things went with everyone, but still it was good xxx

Nataly Loved your ending maybe because I was rooting for Gale the whole time;)

♥ Alexia -Team Malec ♥ AWESOME!!! I was always Team Gale. and now i'm more sure. I think you are a more talented writer than Suzanne Collins! I was hooked from the start. you HAVE to become an author. I'd sooo, read your books!
You have so much imagination!!!! Keep writing :D

teresawantscoffee I think you're a really good writer... Thanks for this amazing alternative ending... I was always Team Gale...

Angelique Wow thanks guys, for the encouraging feedback! Go team Gale ;)

Sheyenne Loved that.ending!!! Its much less depressing then the Mockingjay ending maybe Collins should take some writing lessons from you ha-ha :-D

l This story was great! I loved your writing, but I don't think Peeta would have changed from a kind, loving person to someone who drinks with Haymitch regularly in just a month...or at all. I was never with teams, I liked Peeta and Gale equally, so I like both endings! Awesome job :D

Bridget I was half Team Peeta/Gale throughout the entire series. I really enjoyed your alternative ending, very creative and well written!

Nereida Miller I too was half Team Peeta/Gale...they were both good guys! I kept wondering how the Collins was going to resolve that issue in the ending. Unfortunately, the ending let me down. Not because she stayed with Peeta over Gale, but because of the "matter of fact" way it was done. It's like Collins ran out of steam and needed to end it as fast a possible. I would feelt he same at the ending been revised...she stayed with Gale and Peeta went to District 2.
Angelique, I read your alternate ending and thought is was wonderful! I am telling all my friend to read it! There was more heart and soul in you ending than in Collin's ending. Keep on writing!!!

Lauren, thanks! and also for your feedback on the drinking scene... might try to describe it better cause I was more picturing peeta as "getting influenced by haymitch" to loosen up that night... but not quite being as far as an alcoholic like haymitch. cheers for the helpful thoughts to consider :)

Wow your stories pretty much the length (or more) of what could be "the fourth hunger games book"... and it has got me quite hooked so far... im on chapter 36... very imaginative and i love the cliff hangers!

Oh and thanks everyone for more great feedback!
and Nereida, yes! totally hear ya..!! :)

Haha yeah... Im just half way done I think... thanks :D. I work really hard on the cliff hangers so they annoy everyone but in a good way :P Its really nice to hear that someone else is reading it! :)
Im gonna start reading your AE right now.

Nicki I love that people are coming up with all different alternative endings to the book, and I think you had a nice twist to it.

My only criticism would be that the characters don't seem to hold true to their previous patterns, and given that they've been through hell and back, they seemed to forget a little to easily about all the horrible things that happened.

It felt a little unfinished without explaining what happened to Peeta after that, but I think you did a good job writing.

I'm always curious to see what others think of what the ending should or could be, and while I can appreciate the writing I have a hard time accepting any other ending besides the one that the author wrote, because I thought it fit perfectly, even if it wasn't happy.

Thanks for your version with the happy ending and keep writing, you did good. :)

Jessica i don't like this ending. cos i feel bad for peeta

Hannah I wasn't really in the mood to read (which is really weird) so I sort of just scanned it, but I did like it. But I agree with Nicki that the characters didn't really feel themselves.

My prefered ending would have been that she chose neither and instead decided to wait. Katniss seemed so frazzled at the end, I would have liked her to wait, and then in the epilogue it shows who she chose. After everything calmed down and went back to normal. (Well maybe not 'normal' since their normal was kind of horrible)

Koral Polidore I was Team Gale from the start and ur ending was AMAZING!!!!! :) You should be an author.

Rae I was always rooting for Peeta but after hearing other people's comments about Gale I almost changed my mind. However, Gale blew up 'The Nut' so I'm not sure who to root for.

I still think the ending for 'Mockingjay' was great though.

Angelique Koral wrote: "I was Team Gale from the start and ur ending was AMAZING!!!!! :) You should be an author."
Thanks Koral, glad you enjoyed it :)

Andrea I still think she should've ended up with Gale...

Bethany Tyree NOOOO Gale he's soo...not there like that. If he'd loved her he would'nt have basically given up after a fake T.V. romance. :) Peeta FTW!..but still love Finnick<3

Beverley Angelique, while I don't agree with the alternate ending you offer, it has been written very well.

I read these books in under a week, and I think she ended up with the right person. Although I do agree that she and Gale loved each other, I do not believe they were IN love. To me, Peeta and Katniss were the obvious 'victors' in this romance.

While I agree the ending was somewhat 'moot', I didn't think there was a need to add the 'epilogue', or the mention of Finnick and Annie's child. That to me felt as if it was thrown in as an after thought.

I much prefer a book to leave me hanging with certain questions at the end. A little clearing up is always good tho.

I am team Peeta but i didnt like how collins ended the book so um suddenly i liked your ending better even if i am team peeta NICE JOB! U SHOULD BECOME A WRitER!

Angelique Awesome! It's so interesting to see how different people have responded to the ending and how different people have interpreted Suzanne Collin's story, the characters feelings, their wrongs and rights, etc. affecting their choice of fav character...

Thanks everyone for your criticism, feedback and appreciation for my writing. I have and will def keep on writing :)

I think what annoyed me most of all about the original novel WAS the ending. Gale was always there for her and she treated him like -----,. but then again, that's the way people are. And since her and Peeta went through so much together, Gale would never be able to compete. So in that way, might I be so bold as to say that Collins was being realistic.
Nevertheless, good alternative ending :-))

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

It was good, I just don't think there was any Katniss in it at all. She would never ask herself that many questions and she was too emotional. I also don't think it was very well paced.
That said- I loved how Peeta knew she was going to go see Gale
I loved how they wound up living in the woods and I loved how Gale told her to run with him, nicely done:)
Don't get me wrong, you're a good writer I just didn't get a very Katniss vibe.

Lieke Mulder Hi Angelique!
Thanks for your ending, it is much more 'feel good' than Collins ending which I didn't like much. I didn't mind that Katniss ended up with Peeta, since I was not really on one team (I actually hoped that Peeta would have fallen for Prim and Katniss was free to chose Gale, but than Prim died, so that ship had sailed.) Also some people here say Collins end was 'moot' or somewhat 'matter of fact' which I totally agree and was a bit of a disapointment for me too.

I like your story, though I think Katniss figures out her feelings and whom she choses a little to fast and easy for my liking, seeing as she couldn't in a long time. If there was something like an epiphany in her emotion-train of thought, I think this should have some kind of inducement. At least that is how I perceived Katniss.
I liked the short adventure in district 2 also, although if you wanted it to be more in sync with the rest of the books, I think it could have used some more details overall. I liked that something secretive is still going on in Panem, that seems very realistic/logic to me in the line of the books!

The ending really gives a warm fuzzy feeling, but I don't really think that is all too realistic considering what everybody's been through, though one can dream of course! :) I really liked reading it though, but the bear thing could have come with a little more suspect and a little more pause before she knows it's Gale. I love that they end up in the house in the woods!
About Peeta; I agree with some of the comments above that I don't see him going drunk with Haymitch that easy and I would really like to know (if) how he can end up happy in this ending too?
I hope you don't mind all the comments, I really think it was a very nice ending you've wrote (and well written too), it was much better than anything I've tried to imagine, so thank you!!

Foreverteampeeta TEAMPEETA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HATE GALE NO HOMO.

Rachel I know it’s been a long time, but I just finished reading de saga yesterday (I read the three books in two weeks), and I am so depressed I was looking for something here (the internet) that made me see things differently. As part of my own “therapy” to overcome the finale of the book, and because I’ve always been Team Gale, I even wrote my alternative ending where Katniss ends up with Gale, but Peeta has a good ending too. So if someone feels like reading it (it’s just a couple of scenes) it’ll be great to hear your opinions! The link is:

Kat That was great! Finally, it has the pro Gale ending half the fans wanted.

Kristine It wasn't badly written but there's some glaring problems with character motivation.
The Holo couldn't receive or send messages - it was a three dimensional map.
What do you mean when you have Katniss say 'I see it clear now?'
It doesn't say much about Katniss if she can switch from Peeta to Gale so quickly and easily.

message 35: by Rachel (new)

Rachel I know the Holo wasn't supposed to send or receive messages, not phone calls either, but I just needed to make that call happen. I don't think that Katniss is switching as quickly as you say, because for me during all the third book, even though she thinks a lot about Peeta and she is worried about him, it is Gale who she has by her side all the time, it's Gale who she demands by her side when she speaks to Coin. When she says that she sees it clear now, what I mean is that she finally sees that Gale is the one she wants to be with, and now that Peeta doesn't love her anymore she can go ahead and be with him without feeling guilty (Haymitch gives her the chance of trying a therapy to "make" Peeta love her again, but she decides it's better if he doesn't, because he will just suffer seeing her with Gale). I don't know if I answered your concerns, this is just how I felt it should have ended, everyone is free to think differently ;)

Cali Souther My biggest complaint about the ending... she killed the little sister?! OMG - that was the whole entire point of the situation. I really found that depressing. My son told me he thought it was realistic. (shrugs)

I liked Gale better too...btw. :)

Sandeep nice one... loved it..
