Family: Lives with his two cousins, all water elementals like himself, they are more on the perfectionist side of the personality spectrum, so he just tries to stay out of their way and not leave his dirty socks laying around.
History: After his parents divorced and moved separate ways when he was fourteen, he moved in with his aunt’s kids. On occasion his parents drop by to check in on him, but for the later part of his teens his aunt raised him.
Personality: He’s got the calm and cool part down, always sort of laid back, never one to throw the first punch. But he does have a bad habit of sort of egging people on, usually with sarcastic and almost downright mean retorts, not that he is actively trying to do so all the time.
Other: He really enjoys spending time near water, beaches, lakes, pools, any of them, but he isn’t actually a very strong swimmer. He mostly just relies on the water to carry him around.
Despite his normally collected manner, every once in a while he just sort of loses it, and that’s when he starts drinking. And yes, he knows it’s a horrible habit, but every one has some darker secrets, right?

Family: Evelyn was born an only child. Her father disappeared shortly after her birth and her mother was arrested for drunk driving.
History: When she was six years old, after her mother was arrested, she was put into foster home after foster home. The longest she stayed in one location was for three years. Around the age of twelve, she discovered her ability. It frightened her current foster parents and she was quickly moved to another home. Once she was old enough, she moved away, found a job, and rented an apartment.
Personality: Though she isn't exactly like the earth type, she is stubborn. She also isn't afraid to be completely honest and isn't a very good liar. She is calm and can handle tough situations. She isn't a hateful person but there are some who she really despises. She does understand emotions.
Other: She enjoys watching the scenery for hours at a time.

History: She was born into to a family of three. Her mom was the one the always taking care of her. She did almost everything. She was the eldest between her brothers. She always had to help her mother. She liked living in plain Illinios. Her father always taught her how to use weapons. They would always go in the woods and practice. She loved having her sword on flames when she would practice with him. Her father helped her use a crossbow. She learned how to use a crossbow at the age of six and has been very well at it since then.
Personality: She can be always fun loving and caring about almost anything. Always loves to be the party person. She can be helpful when it comes right down to it. She's always the dangerous and brave one. She likes to be a tomboy at heart but can't do everything a tomboy is suppose to do. She loves to have fun and read a lot. Loves to be around nature. She also has a dark side. When it comes to her dark side she can handle any person who comes her way. Pretty much she's all haywire. when she gets pretty bad she will always love to have things go her way or burn. If nothing burns she will keep at it until her anger cools down.

Family: Colette is daughter of one of the richest families around. Her mother died right after she was born.
History: Colette was thought not to be an Elemental when she was born, but she quickly mastered Earth at the age of 11. She was trained insanely difficult her whole life and has always had to work for everything, like her family had to. But for Colette, things have always come naturally to her.
Personality: Being daughter of one of the richest workaholic Dad, you'd think she'd be snobby, but she's actually quite content. She minds her manners and is usually sweet, but if you mess with her, she wont hold back. Years of hard training do pay off, you know. She is sharp-tounged when angry, but can have alot of fun.

History: He lived in England for awhile. He grew up a family of four. He always helped around the house and loved being outside. It was like he always tried to get his parents mad when he stayed out late at nights. He loved it there. He always had fun with his sisters. He taught them how to use weapons and be careful how to not cut them. He always mostly played with his sister Claire. He was her favorite and eillie was his second to play around with. After awhile they moved to Illinios. He still has a british accent and same for his sisters.

Family and History: Her family is very orthodox Fire. They believe Fire to be the superior element and look down on all the others. The Masson family are known well for their prejudice and their status for being close to and having connections with the Elders. Julia's family have brought her up as a lady, her mother wanting her to marry another Fire to carry on their pure lineage and eventually produce an heir. Julia's father is very much the same and works closely with the Elders. The Masson family have had quite a few disagreements with the Water element, a particular disagreement led into her elder brother, Marcus's death. Julia and her family have since then had bitter feelings for Water out of all the elements.
Personality: As a young girl Julia had always wondered whether she would have been happier in another element, preferably Earth mainly because of how stubborn she is. Slowly as she grew up she was raised by her mother to be a prim and proper young woman, always remembering how to hold herself and do what she's told. She was taught by her father how to control her powers which has resulted in Julia's calm and collected persona. Despite how controlling her family seem she knows it is for the best and harbours bitter feelings for all other Elements especially Water. Julia is a thinker and observer never despite contrary belief to be rash. She loves her family dearly and doesn't care on what others think and is always ready to bite back in a confident manner. She uses sarcasm on a regular basis without seeming impolite to people she doesn't like and is never known to back out of a challenge. Julia disproves of violence and likes to use her head, but if someone judges her family or her honour she will show how skilled she really is. Julia has been made wise and is bright beyond her ages. She dislikes lack of organisation and improperness, likes to follow the rules.

This is Julia's first time at the ball because her family didn't want her to mingle with the other Elements before she was of age.

Family: Brother: 7 Sister: 4. Her parents are always gone so she has to baby sit her siblings all the time.
History: To Lissa, Air is a breeze and came naturally, leaving time for her to teach her brother and sister. She has struggled through a world full of war. Since the Air Elementals are peaceful, Lissa is more like an underdog and gets picked on for being Air since is less of and offensive Element.
Personality: Bubbly, ready to try anything, fun loving, social butterfly. She tries to spread peace but sometimes (like everyone) breaks. It's rough for her to fit in a world thats fighting, but she makes it work. She's very sensitive at somethimes
Other: She is very graceful. A gifted dancer and fluid mover who is light on her feet and not easy to catch off guard. Very alert.
Also enjoys doodling on her hands with pen and making air symbols on them.

Family- Seth doesn't know his family, he made up his last name at the orphanage.
History- Seth was 14 when he accidentally burned down the orphanage where he lived. He saw a map to the city for elementals in the ashes of the building. He hiked for a week, killing and cooking his food with small blasts of fire. When he got to the city, he was adopted by an elder (not sure who right now) and trained how to control his power.
Personality- Outgoing, funny, optimistic, a little arrogant

History: Jade and Ash didn't exactly have the best childhood in the world. It's not like their mother didn't try, because she really did. But you can't erase the past and unfortunately for the Woods they had to live with their father's mistakes their entire lives.
Born to an Earth Elemental mother, Rowen, and a Fire elemental father, Theodore, it wasn't surprising when Jade had an earth affinity and her brother had one for fire. Both children were born to young parents, Rowen being only 21 when she had Ash. Their mother constantly instilled upon them the need to wait before they rushed into things and she tried her best to raise grounded and well thought out children. Of course that wasn't going to happen.
When Jade was 7 and Ash was 11 their father went psycho. Not only did he murder their family cats, he hung them outside of their house as a warning and then he lit the house on fire. Of course that wasn't very odd at the moment. The worst part was that in order to lite the house on fire he surrounded himself with a shield of flames and ran around inside the house. When it was burning up, Theodore sank into a bathtub and drowned himself. Talk about a messed up situation.
Having never known much about their father's side of the family Jade and her brother delved into research and ended up discovering that her Father's family had a long history of mental stability issues. Their case of crazy was in the genes.
As children Jade and Ash had always been very open and kind but after their father's mental breakdown/suicide they closed up. Haunted by the fear that one day they might snap and go crazy they pushed everyone away and even pushed eachother away. Their mother tried her best to get them to open up but when she fell ill and died last winter all hopes of the two Woods children opening up died with her. Or so everyone believes but who knows. Maybe someday they'll meet someone who can get them to open up again.
Personality: Jade is a bit off. She's honest to the core. That much is true and unlike most earth elementals she's quite emotional. She just isn't very good at controlling her emotions....at all. She can barely handle her own emotions so often times he just locks them away and walks around as stoic as stone. Oddly enough she is quite skilled at reading the emotions of others though. Although she comes across as distant, cold hearted and even cruel at times she's not. She just can't handle dealing with her own issues so she pushes them away. In her mind any problem can be solved except her own.
Jade is incredibly outgoing. She often seeks attention. Her stubborn ways though are usually what get in the way of her being the center of attention. While she likes attention she only likes it when she isn't forced to get it. She's the kind of girl that would waltz up to a stranger and interupt their dance just for the fun of seeing other people's reactions to her bold actions.

Unbeknownst to his sister is that when Ash was 14 something rather odd happened and he would wake up alone in places he hadn't fallen asleep at. He took it as a sign to the beginnings of his crazy and thinks that he may have murdered someone because he woke up with blood on his hands and scratches all over his shoulders. He never realized that the last night of his sleepwalking adventures he had started to dig into the ground until his hands bled and that the scratches were from trees and not someone struggling against him.
Personality: Ash is dangerous. He has that look of a rouge and a daredevil and he uses it to his advantage. His naturally touseled hair matched with his chiseled facial features and body creates a dangerous combination. He knows just how to work his angles and what buttons to push. Ever the attentive male he tends to learn just how to push a girl's buttons and knows exactly how to get his way with women. Ash is very protective though if he does get attatched to a girl. Psssht what an unlikely chance that is... Ever since he was 15 he has been playing girls like a deck of cards and has felt no shame or guilt. It's hard to make him feel guilt or shame and most of the time he plays the role of the strong silent type.
You will most likely never know what Ash is thinking for he is a very skill actor. He can hide his emotions like no other. When someone gets too close to him he'll become an A class asshole in an attempt to get them to leave him alone. If you manage to get him upset you better run, or so you would think. In fact when he becomes truly upset Ash will become ice cold rather than volatile. He would rather distance himself and give someone the cold shoulder than waste his energy yelling at them. If you only get him a little mad he'll yell and throw a bit of a tantrum.

Family- She has two brothers (one 25 and the other one 13). She has a mum but no father.
History- Katrina comes from a rich-ish family. Her dad died when she was seven and her mother went a bit insane after he died. She refused to eat unless her older brother could coax her into eating. Her older brother is very mature but has a playful side, her younger brother messes around alot. Her dad died when he was showing his eldest son how to tie a rope around a tree so it wouldnt move. He was standing on a branch when it snapped and he fell. Her brother saw what happened, and he too has turned quiet, but he talks around friends and family, unlike Katrina.
Personality- Generally a very quiet girl, never spoke unless spoken to. Her dad died when she was seven and in his memory she has taken up everything that her mum said he loved. She can do archery, and at least once a week, she will sit at the bottom of her garden and make a camp fire. She never cooks anything on it, but she will sit and stare into the depth of it for at least an hour. He always loved camping and making fires and cooking on it but she never can, she has a block when it comes to it. She constantly carries a penknife around with her, whether it will be any use or not. She does this because the penknife was her fathers, its the only thing that she ever got from him.
Other- Has a scar above her left eye brow from when her mum was insane and sliced her eyebrow by accident with a smashed glass bottle. She has a scar on her neck from when she tried to kill herself when she went through a really hard time in her life. Her brother found her with the penknife in her hand, dripping blood, and her laying on the floor unconcious after loosing too much blood. She has a tattoo of 'Live, Love, Life' in arrabic arounf the back of her neck and a single music note on the bit of skin that joins her thumb and index finger together. She also has a tattoo of a snake going round her hips like a belt, its dark green with black stripes outlined in white. She plays piano and sings, but only to herself.

Family: His great grandfather was a past elder
History: Calvin's father was a great dissapointment in the family when his father didn't become an elder. Unfortunately for Calvin the dissapointment with his father was taken out on Calvin. His every failure was scruitinized until he couldn't stand it anymore. This is what created his perfectionist nature and he just can't stand it when things are how they should be. He tends to find the masquerade quite boring and doesn't really like it very much. Most of the time people don't even know Calvin until it's too late to get a chance to know him. He's a wallflower guy and he doesn't try to stand out in the slightest.
Personality: Calvin is distant and can be cruel and snappish. He's incredibly protective though. He's just bad at protraying that protectiveness in a nice way. He often snaps at people for doing stupid things and he'd never be the first to ask a girl to dance unless it's out of a dare. He's very protective about his bravery and would rise to any challenge. He's deffinatly not the kind of guy to bail when things get tough.He would do anything to help those that he cares about he just isn't very skilled at portraying those nice feelings.

She is caring, and not just the average kind. She'll take a bullet for you. She doesn't know how that works for the other Elementals. But in her world. Others come before herself.

Family: Soren was born with a twin sister. She was killed when he was 12, along with their parents, in a fire he accidentally created when he first discovered his element, which he found through pure anger.
History: After his family was killed, he moved from foster home to foster home. Guilt ate him away and even for a few weeks, he hardly ate and never spoke. Once he was around the age of 16, he ran away. He found an apartment for awhile before he got a notice to come to the Ball. He finally found a place to fit in, since now he knew other Elementals.
Personality: For a Fire Elemental, he is pretty nice. He loves to joke around but can sometimes take things too seriously. He does have a short temper though, and can be easily angered. He actually likes meeting Elementals of a different element, he finds it interesting rather than hanging out with the same, short-tempered fire Elementals. He will never hold a grudge, even though sometimes his temper can get out of hand.

Family: Her only family she has left is her two brothers and her sisters. Her grandparents have been taking care of her younger brother's and sister.
History: She had a fairly simple life. But after when she turned tweleve things started getting messed up. Her father would always stay out late and never come home on time. Her mother would do the same thing. It got even worse when they would stay out till three in the morning. Her father started becoming an alocholic. Her mother became a drug addiict. Her older brother Eric (24) started trying to help her out but nothing worked well at all. Her father would always physcially absuse her. She tried to escape it but couldn't. They soon died later on. Her mother died of drug overdoes and her father alochol poisoning. Ever since she doesn't know how to become happy anymore or even try to speak to people. Her only family that she has now is Eric, Alice, Ben, and her grandparents who have been taking care of ben so far. Her sister Alice has come of age already to go to the masquerade.
Personality: She is all to caring at heart. She likes to think a lot in her head. Or even yet to think what she says before it might turn bad. She is trusty worthy always. You just have to get to know her a lot better for it to happen. She can always be flirty when she is happy which is almost always. But yet again she can get moddy when someone starts mentioning family or just if anyone says a thing that might tick her right off. She likes to hang around people so she's not always alone. But lately no one wants to talk to her. It's like she's insivible and she tries but everyone ignores her and she always ends up crying in the end.

History: Her parents were killed on a late night when they were going down a wrong street. Her father thought it was a shortcut. It was. But that night, it wasn't that friendly. They rested by the park. Kissing, Laughing, Making Jokes, and so forth. When a Fire Elemental came out of the bushes. With a flick of the wrist, the car was set on fire. No time to get water, they were burnt to a crisp in seconds. The doors locked, windows rolled up. They say it was an Elder. Judging by how much force was added to the car. Only an Elder could do such great work.
And people wonder why she hates them..
Personality: She's a bit worse than you'd think.. She's never open, and doesn't want to be. Because everytime she's open, someone hurts her. Simple as that. So she comes off as that rude, mocky, mean, girl. But deep down, she's giggly, makes REAL jokes, she even wears glasses. But she hides that. Because she hates everything about herself. But don't get to close to her. Because she has a quite a lot of similar stories. Guy likes her, she stays around for a while. Next day. She's vanished.

History: Amisu isn’t really special, she led a normal everyday life; with a special ability passed down from generation to generation in her family. Perhaps you can say that she had…“super hearing”. The reason is very simple, it’s because she can read lips. Even if the lips doesn’t look like they’re moving, but they are, Amisu can still “hear” what the person is saying. This ability is hereditary.
Amisu lost that “super hearing” when she was twelve. It was on the partly sunny day in the afternoon, while Amisu was walking home from school, staring up at the white, puffy, free clouds. Everything happened so fast that Amisu remembers almost nothing about how she lost her sense of hearing. Because of her hereditary skill of reading lips, no one noticed that Amisu lost her hearing until a month later, while she was in class.
As usual, Amisu always looked out the window to watch the free loading clouds during the classes that were boring; it happened in the first class when everyone finally noticed something wrong about Amisu’s hearing. As Amisu started out the window, the teacher called on Amisu to answer the question on the board, however, Amisu didn’t know that the teacher was talking to her until he came over to Amisu—who was still looking out of the clouds--and told her to listen. After several calls of annoyance, he finally gave up and waved his head in front of Amisu’s face, causing her to turn around and apologize for not paying attention. The teacher sighed and turned back to the front of the classroom, asking Amisu to answer the question. Seeing that something was strange, Amisu stood up and asked if he had asked her something due to his actions. Surprised, the teacher had replied yes. It was at that time that Amisu figured out that something was wrong with her hearing. Quickly, she went to the infirmary to have the nurse check up on her hearing. The result was what Amisu had thought—she had lost her hearing during that accident.
Now, with her lost of hearing, Amisu relies on her ability to read lips in order for her to know what people are saying, thus, putting a lot of pressure on Amisu. And because of that, some people think Amisu is odd due to her not hearing them.
Personality: Amisu takes after her mother and grandmother with wisdom. She thinks through numerous things and choices before deciding on what to do with her tasks. Amisu is also a trustworthy and secretive person. Secrets remain hidden in the dark when they are passed onto Amisu. She tells no one about the information she has received. Appearance: Fina has long, straight, vivid red hair and dark brown eyes that are almost black. She has high cheekbones and eyebrows that are more arched than straight. Her lips are full, and she has a slightly upturned nose. She is tall and slender.
Apparel: Her dress is strapless and has a hem that is high in the front and long in the back. It is a brilliant satiny shade of deep purple that is almost black, with gold embroidered flames on the back skirt that look like they are moving as she walks. She has matching gold sparkly platform heels.
Her mask is gold lace and only covers the top half of her face.
Family: Fina's parents died in a mysterious accident when she was very young, and she doesn't really remember them.
History: Fina grew up with her Grandmother after her parents died. When Fina turned fifteen, she burned down most of her Grandmothers house, resulting in her being kicked out. She kept herself alive by stealing, until she was able to get her own place.
Personality: Fina is very temperamental, and she has a very sarcastic sense of humor. She can be blunt, and sometimes even rude.
She is outgoing, but that is often overshadowed by her other, less wonderful traits.

History: Ella’s mother passed away when she was four, and the next two years of her life had been hell on Earth. Her father couldn’t even stand to look at her, she didn’t understand then, but she’s put the pieces together and figured that she just looked too much like the love of his life. And because of this he couldn’t hold it together. She thought he had been strong, but no. No he just gave her up, going to a friend of his and practically begging for them to take Ella off his hands. At least he had the decency to put her with people that weren’t total strangers.
Ella has been in that household since then. It hadn’t really gotten much better, her adoptivemother loathes her like dirt of her carpet. Really they just hate each other in general, whereas her adoptive father and her adoptive brother treat her like another one of the family, or rather her adoptive father did… he passed away four years after her coming to live with them. Now only her brother cares, for that however—she is grateful.
Personality: Ella may be just a pretty face from a distance but she knows how to take care of herself. She’s independent, determined, and hot-headed (due to her family issues). However, she finds time to sooth herself and usually doesn’t snap at those that don’t go snapping at her first. If you play your words right she may just come to trust you one day, but she doesn’t go rushing herself into those decisions, that’s why it’s takes a good amount of time to dig deep enough to honestly know her. Ella isn’t one to go blabbering her past willy-nilly to just anyone, and she usually keeps to herself, that or to her ‘brother’. Last but not least, she’s no jester, a few jokes here and there maybe, but nooooo jester.

History: Heath has had a very nice life, he was brought up well and had plenty of friends. Really he had nothing… bad ever happen to him. When Ella, his adoptive sister, came into the family he automatically took to her, for he had always wanted a younger sibling and his Mother was nonetheless brutal and nasty to her. After that he and his mother would always get into fights, they weren’t loud and he didn’t hold a grudge very long, but they broke out to often to count how many they had. Then his father died and she grew worse. He’s had to defend Ella more and more, even striking up and argument with his sister every now and again.

Personality: Grella has a very fiery, personality. She is very beautiful and this often makes people do things for her. She hates this. More of a boy-next-door than anything, he is friendly, kind and very protective of the weak. Theone's mind is wide open to almost anything and he's been attracted to both girls and boys before. He enjoys deep thinking and debating, but when he meets intolerance his hidden temper is easily flared. Apparel: Dimitris wears a black tuxedo with a red tie, only because his father told him to since his element is fire. Honestly, Dimitris could care less about wearing the tie, but he doesn't really like the color red, which is why he keeps trying to change his tie for a silver one or something of any other color that isn't red. However, he never seems to escape his father long enough to do it, so he just keeps the silk tie on. Then underneath his black tuxedo jacket, he is wearing a silvery/blue oxford button up, which is actually highly uncomfortable for him since it is kind of itchy. So pretty much the entire time, he's tugging at it or shifting uncomfortably because of it. However, his father insisted on that silver shirt, saying it brought out the blue of his eyes; though Dimitris isn't sure why that matters.
Dimitris is wearing a plain black mask with a rather long beak like nose on it just protruding out, which used to be his father's, but he hates it just as much as the rest of his outfit. If it was up to Dimitris, he would be in plain clothing and in his room for the entire thing, most likely reading a book. He dislikes dressing up and going to events where he doesn't care much for others really. However, he's stuck in a tuxedo, wearing an uncomfortable shirt, a red tie that he can't stand, and a mask that used to be his father's mask. Oh fun.
Family: There isn't much to really say about Dimitris family. His mother is a rather nice woman, with a temper and his father is an absolute hothead. There is never any reasoning with the man, which is why Dimitris is trying to live a life of his own, but it's difficult with an overbearing father who never seems to let go over the only person he has control over. After all, it's a little difficult for the young man to stand up to his father, who only ever shouts at him and always has something to hold over him. It's always the same thing, but Dimitris keeps it to himself since it's that thing that he doesn't anyone else to know. And of course his father threatens to tell everyone about that thing, which gives him power over his son even though the boy is twenty years of age.
History: Dimitris doesn't like to speak about his past. It's something he likes to forget only because it makes life easier that way, until his father brings it up whenever he tries to rebel against him. After all, there is a reason he prefers to forget about it.
At one time, Dimitris left and went to live a normal life without his powers, but it didn't even last an entire year- he was back home before the year was even up. A life of an average human. Of course this pissed his father off, but Dimitris didn't care, he was away from the ones he hated and found a place he loved. He even fell in love with an ordinary human... However, that was when things went downhill and he was forced to go back home... Like it has been said, he doesn't really want anyone to know about it. But if the right person comes along and manages to crack him, he might just tell them what happened during his time away from the home he grew up in.
Personality: Like most fire elementals, Dimitris is quick to anger, but is trying to control it. He doesn't want to be like the others since anger doesn't really solve anything. Dimitris is a rather good guy with a good heart, but no one really gets to see that part of it since his father always tells him that he isn't supposed to be like that. Plus, no one sees him like that because at first glance, people just take him to be a fire bad boy, when in fact he's the exact opposite. Dimitris is sweet and has a very charming smile, when he actually is smiling, but lately he doesn't really have anything to smile about. Then again, he hasn't bee smiling since he returned home, but he hasn't really been showing many emotions other than annoyance or indifference to many situations. Currently, he's irritated because of the masquerade ball.

His father sent someone after him, but that person spoke little English and assumed the father wanted his son dead. The hired person caught Daniel and slit his wrists. As he left him to die, he shouted to Daniel "Your father wanted this!" Daniel was found nearly dead by his friend Seth. Seth took Daniel with him to the city of elementals where he made a recovery. Daniel still owes Seth.

Personality: She is very graceful like the element she controls. Hylla is very much a peacemaker but will stand for what she believes in and will fight I'd she has to. Most of the time she is kind and caring but there are occasions when her "other" side shows. She usually enjoys the peace and quiet but once in a while like a little chaos. She a 'good girl' but occasionally, she is kind of a trouble maker.
Family: Her father and little sister. Her mother was very ill when she gave birth to Hylla's little sister, Terra and died not long after she was born. Her whole family are air elementals.
