I need help guys... i need a guy's name for the story I'm working on. The male is an incubus, funny, golden mane and tall. Very seductive when he needs to feed but otherwise he is along the lines of Lafayette. So if you got something that fits please help me out! Thank you!

Carrie | 94 comments Hmmm....I have a couple. Not sure they fit, but...

Tennyson - it's great for a name for a character that was named a LONG time ago, but not too serious.

Cole - short, but nice. Could be seductive....but not necessarily

Keaton - I'm a fan of using last names first sometimes. They tend to be quite masculine/strong names. I liked this one.

Good luck!

Both are strong, masculine names that roll off the tongue:)

Dawn Jayne Loaded question! Age is important, as is country of origin. If he's a major player, you will probably want a name that in some way characterizes his arc, his entire presence, not just physical appearance. I'm being no help, I know LOL I am a huge believer that the right name can enhance a character, while the wrong can detract, and you're the best person to know what's he's all about.
Don't sweat it; there is nothing saying you have to come up with a name NOW and have it set in stone. It can change, and sometimes as characters evolve and we get to know them better as we write, we find the name we picked doesn't fit anymore. Good luck! xo

Pandora Richardson (pandorar) | 59 comments I agree with Dawn. I'm being of no help either and I also believe that you don't have to come up with a name now. Well I guess that really depends on your schedule....I sometimes use a placeholder name and change it later based on my gut instinct down the road.

OK here's a few random names now that I think about it:

Roman
Allister
Fredrick

Thanks guys I was lucky to find a name I loved Sorin but there were so many brilliant and out of the box ideas, some which I am going to use in the series a little later on. The deadline for the manuscript is end of next week lol so time to crack the whip.

I write everywhere and anywhere. Mainly I try to write after dinner, while the kids are watching a quiet movie. When my husband is away i suffer insomnia and write from 8pm til 3-4 am, I dont reccommend that at all lol.
It is really hard to fit kids, jobs and writing time all in together. When i first started out, I would allocate just one hour to write. In the hour I had to shut everything else out. So if the kids were making a mess or the dishes needed doing I just had to let it go until I was finished. Partners also come in handy, if at home they can watch the kids for a bit.

Also sometime setting up some snacks, a dvd or art (like drawing or something easy) while you type away on your laptop can be good. Let the kids know that your 'working' or 'creating' or something and let them do something fun as well, have like a work party of sorts, just remember to keep it simple and if they make a little mess it is ok to ignore it while you punch out a chapter or so.

I hope this helped! I had to learn the hard way what works and what doesn't :) So, if you can at least fine even 1 hour a week it will hopefully get easier and then you will be writing novels in no time! :D

Thanks, the paints is a really good idea. Everytime I sit down to write i only manage about 500 words at the time and then i loose my line of thought becuae of interruptions, like they start fighting or they want something.argh!!! I was thinking of setting up my alarm clock to get up earlier, before anyone else does but my bed is so cosy...

I know what you mean, I can never really write in the morning, I need to have at least cups of coffee first lol. Mornings for me are spent online doing promo work, this group, speaking with my publisher...just whatever needs to be done without me needing to think to much lol.
Let me know how it goes for you! I hope the kiddies behave and you get some good writing time :D

I've had the same problem. I'm more of a morning writer and used to get up at 4 and 5 in the morning.I really need to get back into that schedule...like now. I'm in the US so my kids, who are normally in school, are home right now. This summer has been crazy with schedules and I've had very little time to write. But in return I've been reading more which I can do given only 15 minutes. I have done a little editing as I am trying to finish up a novel.

As for the names, I don't have anything in particular because it may depend on origin and time (present, past, or future). I think that may have been stated above but I have this baby name link under my favorites.

It has helped me many times.

Rebecca, great ideas!got paints and they were busy painting, that day i managed to write 1000words uninterrupted! yesterday I took them to the local library, I took the memory stick and while the kids were busy looking at books, etc I was busy on the computer and wrote another thousand. Yes!!!So happy!
Now, my next question is; did you get someone to read and correct your writing before summiting it to the publishers? Maybe we should have a mums who write group...:0

As for your next question, I've always had someone go through it, we all miss stuff, even now I have amazing friends who look over stuff for me :D

Hi Lisa, well done for getting up that early; I wish i could. I've had my alarm clock for 4 am but when it went off I just couldnt get out of my bed! My kids are off school as well for the summer holidays so I try to get out of the house every day (we dont have a garden) so..tricky. The ideas to keep them busy are really good, at least I can dedicate an hour to write. I have been writing the same novel for a year now and still only have 35k, really want to finish it by the end of this year.

I try to participate in NaNoWriMo because I have months when I get barely any writing done and for November I push to get the 50,000 words. If you aren't familiar with this check out the website. It gets me movitated for the rest of the school year. I've started new books as per the rules but I know other who write the 50,000 words count for November that have started their books. They also have "summer camps" which basically is writing 50,000 words for a month. I think August is the next summer camp. I don't ususally participate in the camps.

To get back on track of the trend, I'm curious of girls names that people find interesting. And if you recommend some, is it for a specific type of personality or creature (faerie, vampire, or so on)? Any thoughts?
