Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments use wordpress.com or blogspot.com - they are free hosting sites - both of them have start new blog links where you go through how to set them up, themes you want etc...

you can look at blogs by other people and see what they do that you like/dislike etc

Tanya (bookaholic22) Which book blogs do you suggest that I should look at?

Tanya (bookaholic22) Ok... Thanks for your help by the way x

jarplum Tanya, that depends on whether you'd like to go all the way and purchase a domain (usually $8 - $11 for one year) or you'd rather use the free blogging sites like Blogger, Wordpress or LiveJournal.

You have to make that decision first before proceeding. I can help you if you'd like.

I've already set my blog up on Blogger would you like the link. Its only available to blog authors.

jarplum I'm not a blog author, but sure, link it. :)

Tanya (bookaholic22) http://abookparadise.blogspot.co.uk/ I'm not sure if it would show but if it doesn't let me know.

jarplum I had to login with my gmail account, and after I did, it stated it's a blog for invited members only. Something in your settings you need to change to make it public. That is if you WANT it to be public...

message 11: by Tanya (new)

Tanya (bookaholic22) Ok, I will change my settings.. thanks for letting me know

Tanya (bookaholic22) You can see it now its a public blog.

I see it. It looks really good! That was the easy part, though. If you want people following, you've got to get out there and advertise. Don't spam, though. People don't take kindly to wildly posting your links on their forums. You'll have to participate in groups and then somehow manage to mention your blog.

Tanya (bookaholic22) Well I have posted the link on my profile on goodreads and thanks for your comments. Will you keep reading it? Can you spread the word as well.

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments sorry, got caught up at work ;)

here is the link to my blog: www.deesbookblog.com (its a wordpress site that I upgraded to have my own domain)

http://iamareadernotawriter.blogspot.... - does book reviews and is currently hosting a blog hop

http://abookandareview.blogspot.com/ - this is a blog done by a friend of mine, but I find it to be really interesting and she has a high review rating here and on Amazon

I've left a comment on your Twilight post. Yep, I don't mind spreading the word on my LiveJournal. :)

message 17: by Tanya (new)

Tanya (bookaholic22) Thanks and can you post the link of your blog, I would love to read it

message 18: by Tanya (new)

Tanya (bookaholic22) And it says that there are no comments on the twilight review

I don't have a public blog. My LiveJournal is sort of private, but I've many friends there. However, I do have a site: http://www.novelscribe.com. It's a site for self-published and small press authors on Amazon/Lulu/Smashwords/Any online publishing house, to post the links of their books, and for readers to find them. :)

That's strange. I left a review. There was no 'Leave a comment' link, so I clicked 'No Comments' and it directed me to a page to post a comment. It even showed me the posted comment afterwards. I'll go poke around your blog to see if I left it elsewhere instead of on the Twilight review.

Ok, Tanya. It looks like it's posted. Let me know if you see it. :)

Tanya (bookaholic22) I saw it and I replied x

message 23: by Marta (new)

Marta Acosta Hi, Tanya, the best advice I got when I started blogging is to link to other blogs. Make sure you create a blogroll with all your favorite sites. Mention new releases with links to the authors' sites. Set up a Twitter account, connect it to your blog, so that it autotweets. People will begin to find you. Also, interview authors or bloggers. I always like to have my favorite blogger/reviewers visit and give recommendations for undiscovered gems. Most important, write like yourself, not anyone else. People will come to hear your voice and your opinions. Good luck!

Tania | 644 comments I think the best piece of advice I was given was to figure out how you personally will define the success of your blog. Is it by the amount of comments, the number of clicks per day etc.

I use wordpress which is really easy to use and modify. There are a few restrictions as far as widgets etc but I preferred it to the other options out there.

My blog is at http://wanderinghues.wordpress.com/ - if you want to go and have a look I'd be happy to answer any questions you have as to how I've done what.
