If we can find a couple more people I suppose we could organize a group meetup in Boston, possibly a at a coffee shop or at the commons weather permitting. I've been to quite a few meetups there and it's always a great location for these types of events.
Erica wrote: "I live out in Western Ma so a drive out isn't very practical for me"I'm in Western MA as well, Erica. I'd be down for finding a meet up location, been hoping to find some more VF peeps in the area (course "in Western MA" could still mean a long drive).
lol, true. I am in Greenfield. I have discovered that none of the picks this month are available as e-books or audiobooks from the library :( so I haven't read a single on this month
Oh my god, I was thinking for a while that an MA group would be impossible, so glad there are more of us now.I'm moving out to Norton, which makes Boston much closer for me now.I know western MA always ends up an issue for people, We could have two group or one where we have multiple meetups in different locations to maximize accessibility. Or maybe if we can't meetup in life we could have our own G+ hangout.

But we're so limited on the publishers that will sell us ebooks. One thing that is worth it if it is a publisher that sells to OverDrive is to get a Boston Public Library e-card and check out their ebook collection as well, they've got some books we don't have in CWMARS.
If you want to request them for yourself:
Master of None (only one copy, I just returned it today which is why it's In Transit)

Ill Wind (8 copies on this record, second record with a few more copies kicking around)
http://bark.cwmars.org/eg/opac/record...
Oracle's Moon (3 copies)

(I might do this every day at work... :D)
I did start a separate thread for Western MA looking for ppl wanting to do a in person meet up.
Boston doesn't have them either, I looked! What?! You mean I might actually need to enter a library?! When next months come out next week hopefully I can get those
If its published by Penguin we can no longer get ebooks from them, we also cannot get anything by several other publisher. As a side note I actually sent someone who orders ebooks for overdrive to this group as a source of suggested titles :D
it looks like the mass group is split up into two groups. for those of us in the boston/nh area are we still planning on meeting up for this month? if we want to keep it to one MA group, that google + hangout sounds like a good idea if we can't meet up this month.
Or we could try a central location, like the Worcester area, so that everyone has to drive a bit. I have many friends in that area, so I'm used to driving at least that far west on a somewhat regular basis.I'd be up for anything. I work in Boston, so obviously staying closer to the city is a bit easier for me :)
I guess it really depends on what people are willing to drive. The G+ Hangout would be good for those of us who have obligations to keep track of and/or can't drive out for various reasons.
I live in Rhode Island and would be willing to drive to MA for a hangout, if there are enough people interested.
It seems like there is more of us now, so we should try to set this up? Maybe after the holidays since I'm going to take a guess that most of are going to be busy this month.

I'm not sure if there has been a Boston meetup yet. I think that there is some interest in meeting up, but nothing organized... yet!
I am interested in a book club meet-up and will also be attending Boston Comic Con - August 8-9-10, 2014 at the Seaport Trade Center. I live out in the ‘burbs (Norfolk County--eastern Massachusetts). I am seemingly immune to GPS, google maps, and garmins, so in deference to the safety of the citizens of Massachusetts, I limit my driving. So hope to see VF group members in August.
I think that we should try and meet up since there has been some activity lately and the holiday season is over. I feel like it might be easier to try and organize something, weather permitting of course! I don't know about others, but I live in Somerville so anywhere in Boston is pretty easy for me to get to. What about others?
If the meet up is in Salem we could come up with an interesting name for the group! If this works out I will try to join you all. I usually attend Anime Boston (sometime in March this year) but I am not sure about this year. I have not been to Boston Comic Con but if there is a meet up at that time I will try to get there.
I'm still interested as well. Boston area is a good meet up place for me. I'll be working Anime Boston and I'll be going to 'Thon in Somerville too if people want to meet up
Does anybody have any suggestions as to where we should meet? I've only thought of Deluxe Diner which is a steampunk restaurant in Newton (I think). I'm sure there are tons of places that would be acceptable and I'm just drawing a blank!
I think somewhere around netwon is fine for a meetupI've never been to a steam punk restaurant. That sounds cool. Maybe we should do a poll of who is still interested in a local Boston hangout?
I was trying to read through the messages but I couldn't tell if there is a meetup happening in the Boston area. I am from the Cambridge/Somerville area.
I will be escaping my dwelling in the suburbs to go to Boston on April 19 to see Aisha Tyler’s standup at The Wilbur. Not sure of book club friendly meeting spots, but there is a coffee house called “Thinking Cup” right near The Wilbur Theater. Never been there, maybe I can investigate. With negative driving skills, but with superior abiity to misunderstand Siri, getting to places not next to “T” locations is problematic for me.
Thinking Cup is right next to the commons and is close to the T and Wilbur Theater! If there are only a few people the Thinking Cup would work... or we could just get coffee there and go outside (if it is nice).
I live on the Northshore too and would love to meet in Boston. Also if there are other pple on the Northshore, a Northshore meetup would be fun to add too.
Read the YELP on Thinking Cup. The reviews seem to lean towards a great experience with great products, but available seating is limited. The Common is close by, but weather could dampen any book talk. I heard that there is a multiple story (levels not literature--I love puns) Starbucks in Harvard Square, has anyone been there?
