ABANDONED. Girlfriend dies; communicates through notes buried in box

OK, so a friend of mine has been dying trying to think of this book, so i thought i would help her out. She said its about a man whose girlfriend dies and they always left notes for each other buried in a box that only they knew about. After her death, he starts getting new notes in her handwriting on the same paper she used and they say things that only she would know. Also, a real estate agent that looks just like her starts coming around, and knows everything about their past relationship, and apparently shes crazy. I know that was a bit scattered, but I hope someone can help :)
